Graham Speaks On Temptations San Francisco (UPI) Evangelist Billy Graham says every human being is alone in the battle against Satan unless Christ is with him. Graham spoke on the temp tations of the Devil Wednes day night in his sermon to 14,800. at th Cow Palace. He is in the final week of his seven-week crusade. " Graham emphasized that being tempted is not a sin but that the sin comes in yielding to the temptation. "Man is never tempted be yond his capacity to with stand temptation," Graham said. "The Devil is most in terested in tempting those closest to God. Some peopl he doesn'd,ven bother about." He warn that Satan at tack in thre ways through "th lii&t o the flesh, t h lust of th eye and pride." The acret of resisting temptation, he said, is to be obedient to God," to be filled with th$ Holy Spirit, to spend ti!Qe in prayer and to know the scriptures. Tacking School . Slated in July The 0nnul Hedford voca tional gear packing school willb held uly 10-25, ac cording to Charles King, Nye and Naumes Packing com pany, chairman of the school. Hours of the course will be 9 to noon and 1 t 4 p.m. Mon day through Friday. King reported that students sponsored by the packing houses in the area would be given, first consideration in the registration. Others will be registered if vacancies oc cur. There is a $3 registration fee for the course. The packing school is spon sored by the Fruit Growers League of Jackson county, the Medford Pear Shippers asso ciation and the state depart ment of vocational education. SP 2-4107 Rose Festival Queen Selected Portland (UPI) Lovely Ruth Parrett of Grant High school, daughter of a Metho dist minister, was selected queen of the 1958 Portland Rose Festival Wednesday night. A crowd of 21,983 in Mult nomah stadium attended cor onation ceremonies honoring the 1958 queen of Rosaria and her court of 10 princesses. Miss Parrett is the second girl from Grant in the past three years to be named queen. Sharon Frey of Grant was the 1956 queen. She is the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. O. E. Parrett. Four more Navy ships ar rived here Wednesday, the cruiser Los Angeles and three destroyers. The submarine Redfish arrived Tuesday. Also arriving Wednesday were comedian Jerry Colona, conductor David Rose and jazz trumpeter Red Nichols. Nightly shows will be held in Multnomah stadium with the grand floral parade Sat urday and the junior parade Friday. The Bowlins wanted every letter in the alphabet repre sented in the children's in itials. So they had 13 chil dren .whose ages now range from 29 to 57. Champions Sold At 4-H, FFA Show The Dalles (UPI) The 12th annual 4-H and FFA stock show concluded Wed nesday with an auction of more than 400 animals by 200 youngsters. The Grand Champion FFA beer owned by Mike Thome, Pendleton, weighed 1045 pounds. It was sold to Paul Muller of The Dalles for 55 cents a pound. The 4-H Grand Champion owned by Mike Wagonblast, The Dalles, weighed 1100 pounds. It went for 48 cents a pound to The Dalles TV and Cable company. , The Grand Champion FFA sheep owned by Mark Bost vold, The Dalles, weighed 114 pounds and also was purchas ed by The Dalles TV and Cable Co., at 60 cents a pound. ' The 4-H Grand Champion sheep owned by Jean Ross, Moro, weighed 85 pounds, and was bought by the Moro Grain Growers for 90 cents. Swift and Co., wa high bidder for the FFi. Grand Champion Berkshire hog owned by Jerry Harms, Can by. The 190-pound hog was sold for 48 cents a pound. The 4-H Grand Champion Berkshire owned by Nancy Oregon State Grange Selects Baker for 7959 Eugene (UPI) Members of yie Oregon State Grange, holding their 1958 convention here, voted to hold next year's meeting in Baker. The convention runs through Friday. Only about 36,000 farmers, or 5 per cent of Canada's farm population, had enough income in 1955 to pay income tax.
