Home Management
Teachers Say Laundry
Still Needs Hot Water
. Fargo, .JN. D. (UPI)
New cold water washing pro
cesses provide the proper tem
perature range for "wash and
wear" fabrics, but the bulk
of household laundry still re
quires hot water.
Home management teachers
at North Dakota State say
an advantage of cold water
washing being advertised in
new deluxe washing machines
is that it minimizes wrinkles
especially the deep-set ones
in wash and wear garments.
However, studies of family
laundry show that a big part
of the household wash con
tinues to be cotton items that
get the heavier soil and need
hot water for good cleaning.

Beef and preferably steak is '
the perfect choice to please Dad
on Father's Day. Let the
youngsters prepare a meal fit
for the king of the family of
steaks served "on a raft" of
frozen potato patties.
For the "Steaks on a Raft,"
select a boneless steak as filet
mignon, boneless strip sirloin,
rib steak or a big sirloin cut into
individual servings before broil
ing. For best eating, make cer
tain that the steak is cut at least
1-inch thick. With a boneless
steak, pound of meat per
person should be adequate, but
to really please Dad,- plan on a
robust ) pound serving. Broil
the steaks in a preheated broiler
at least 3-inches from the source
of heat to the perfect degree
of doneness.
The frozen potato patties come
ready-shaped, requiring only a
brushing of butter before slip
ping into the broiler for a few
minutes to brown.
