Years in Ministry

one assigned Mr. Tollefson by
the faculty of Luther Theo
logical seminary, St. Paul,
Minn., for his senior gradua
tion sermon. He has been in
the ministry for 30 years as
of Sunday.
Mr. Tollefson will leave
Sunday from Portland to at
tend the general convention
of the Evangelical Lutheran
church in Minneapolis June
18 through 24. En route he
will stop at a former parish,
Poison, Mont., then continue
to Stanley, N.D., where, he
will preach the 50th anniver

He plans to return to Med

To Conduct School
The Medford Pathfinder
club has been chosen to con
duct Sabbath school services
June 7 at the statewide 'camp
oree to be held at Fall River
camp, near Bend.
Approximately 500 Oregon
Pathfinders .with Union and
Conference youth leader will
attend the three-day camp
The group will be divided in
to units of not more than
eight members, supervised by
experienced counsellors. Each
unit will set up their own
camp, and do their own cook
ing while in attendance.
First scheduled event will
be Vesper services around
the campfire Friday night,
The entire group will meet
for Sabbath school and
church services Saturday, and
an afternoon of nature study
has been planned, culminat
ing in evening campfire songs
and stories.
Events scheduled for Sun
day will include contests be
tween clubs from different lo
calities, including building
fire, by, friction, flapjack flip
ping, and "Trust Your Knot.
The latter involves six Path
finders from each competing
club. They must tie a series
of ropes together with vari
ous knots, including the bow
line, sheet bend, square, fish
erman's and sheep shank, in
a period of two minutes or
less. The first rope is secured
to one Pathfinder's waist, and
the knots must hold while he
is pulled a distance of 10 feet
while seated on a blanket.

ing for the camp, and will re
turn Sunday night.
Chapel Dedication
Held Last Sunday

and banquet hall on the Mil
lard ranch, 17 miles north of
Medford on Hammel rd.,
were dedicated with services
Sunday. Pastor of the church
is the Rev. D. E. Millard.
. The building is constructed
of pumice brocks and of Span
ish design. The chapel and
banquet room are each 20 feet
by 40 feet and are located on
a bluff overlooking the river

church is part of a larger
project to be known as the
Millard Research Foundation.
According to - Mr. and Mrs
Millard, it will work in the
field of health as it applies to
body, mind, and spirit.
Sermon lectures will be
given monthly with the first
one scheduled for Sunday,
June 29, at 2:30 p.m. It will
follow a fellowship dinner at
noon.
Mr. Millard, head of the
foundation, reported that "the
church will be known as
"The New Age Church" and
is the first step in a much
larger program of educational
and humanitarian work.

16 through 27, according to
Ralph Brock, chairman of the
board of education.
The ages for the children
attending start with four
years and go through high
school. Bible stories and
songs, handicraft and group
projects, as well as training
in worship and prayer will
constitute the chief activities
of the school.

nary, St. Louisj will be on the
teaching staff, in addition to
the members of the local con
gregation. Mr. Hougum will
be met in Portland by the
pastor of the congregation,
and accompany the Korby's
from Portland next week. He
is scheduled 'to work in tne
Medford congregation during

part of his field work train
ing in preparation for the
holy ministry in the Luther
an church Missouri Synod. .

Mrs. Ekstedt. with her hus
band, went to the mission
field in 1938. At the present
time they are engaged in
evangelistic work using a tent
for their meeting place.

serving under the auspices of
the Evangelical Alliance mis
sion with headquarters in
Chicago.

Former Missionary
Summer Assistant
The Rev. ; and Mrs. Walter
C. Morris arrived today from
Oceanlake to serve the con
gregation of the First Church
of the Nazarene in the capac
ity of assistant to the pastor
during the summer months.
Mr. Morris, who s retired
last summer from the active
ministry, has served a num
ber of posts in his denomina
tion. After serving many
years as missionary to China,
Mr. Morris became pastor of
the Olivet College church in
Kankakee, 111. He has been
temporary pastor at the Mt.
Pitt Avenue Church of the
Nazarene since February
of
this year.

six, will begin Monday at
First Baptist church. The
school will meet each week
day through June 20, from 9
a.m. to 12 noon.
"Exploring God's Wonders"
is the overall theme of the
school. The lessons for the
primary department will con
cern "Learning to Live in
God's Family," and the jun
iors will study "The Chris-"
tlan's Time and Talents."
Handcraft, singing, Bible sto
ries and recreation are inte
grated into a meaningful pro
gram, to which any child is
welcome.
Pre-school children com
pleted V.B.S. on May 29, and
no classes will be-m-ovided
for them on June 9 through
20. Junior high sessions will
be held later in the summer.
On Sunday evening, part of
the, 7:45 service at First Bap-
tgt will be devoted to slides
and information concerning
the annual Men's Retreat of
southern Oregon, to be held
July 18 through 20, at Union
Rogue Baptist camp, q
