Pastor Returns to School
Baptist Minister
To Leave Medford
The Rev. Claude A. Miller,
lias resigned as pastor of First
Southern Baptist church. Mr
Miller came to Medford in
April, 1957, and while here
has also served was a volun
tary counselor for Jackson
county juvenile department.
The Millers will go to Cali
lornia where they will attend
college. Mr. Miller plans to
take studies in the field of
ocial welfare and Mrs. Miller
will complete the necessary

er in the public schools.

They will sing in the morn

the program preceding the

group will also appear at a
combined young peole's meet
ing in the Apostolic Faith
church, Grants Pass at 3 p.m.
with the young people of the
Medford church. They will
also be featured on the Apos
tolic Faith radio program on
KMED at 8:15 Sunday morn
ing.
The Harmonaires were or
ganized five years ago in Port
land under the direction of
William Walden. Mr. Walden
has recently been . appointed
director of music for the Med
ford church. This left, a Vac
ancy in the quartet which has
been taken by Don Wolfe,
formerly music director of the
Medford church. Mr. Walden
will sing with the group on
this trip. The quartet consists
of: Ethan Ewers, first tenor;
Mr. Walden, second, tenor;
Clarence Stelle, baritone; and
Clifford Metzenberg, bass
Several of their numbers have
been recorded under the "Tab
ernacle Harmonies" label. Mr,
Walden has arranged several
of their numbers.
Lutheran Youth
To Spring Rally
Approximately 25 teen
agers and six adults of the
Walther League of St. Peter
Evangelical Lutheran church,
1020 East Main st., will travel
to Klamath Falls this week
end for a gathering of young
Lutherans from southern Ore
gon. The spring rally, held each
year, is designed not only to
furnish opportunity for the
young folks to meet each
other, but to study, worship
and play together.
This is a zone meeting of
the Walther League. The
zone consists of congregations
from Sutherlin to Klamath
Falls. Joe Bailey from the
Medford League is chairman
of the zone, and Roberta
Gamaehlich, also of Medford,
is chairman of the Christian
Growth department. Tom
Kersten, also of Medford, is
treasurer for the zone.
Registration begins for the
rally Saturday morning at 10.

June 9 is the date for sum
mer Bible school to start at
the Community Bible church.
From 9 a.m. until noon each
day through June 20, there
will be daily Bible classes for
all children of the area from
4 years to 13 years of age.
Mrs. Harry Dalton is in
charge. Some of the other
teachers will be Mrs. Cram
mer and Mrs. Simonds. The
roster is not yet complete and
several young people plan to
help with crafts and play
ground activities.
The theme of the school
this year will be "Exploring
God's Wonders." At the end
of the school there will be
a closing program.

the speaker at the 7:30 p.m.
