The public information committee of the American Red
Cross, Jackson County chapter, is but one of the many local
committees of the chapter, that needs volunteers to carry
on its work. May is recruitment month for the Red Cross
and a day of indoctrination will be held by the local chap
ter Tuesday, May 27, at the Red Cross building. Interested
persons should contact the local office. Above, Jennings
Pierce, chairman of public information, labels a film con
tained that will be distributed to various news media. News
papers, televsion and the radio are used extensively to tell
the story of Red Cross in Jackson county. Mr. Pierce, form
erly of Los Angeles and San Francisco, is with Pierce Asso
ciation here. Engaged 'in public relations work since 1924,
Mr. Pierce takes an active part in many other civic and
community affairs in addition to his Red Cross work.

en's clubs 43rd convention
held May 7-9 in Salem.
A club colleet framed in
a hand-painted border was
the award given the local
chapter for. increasing the
membership of the club. The
collect was presented' to the
delegates from the Illinois
Valley at a banquet Friday
night in the Marion hotel.
Honorable mention was
made of the local organiza
tion for being one of the top
10 clubs to contribute the
most money to the $6,002
raised by all the clubs during
the past year for CARE, a
principal p r o j e c t of the
OFWC.
