SECTION 1. That, for the pur
poses of this ordinance, the term
Primary Election" shall mean the
General Primary Election to be
held in and throughout the State of
Oregon on the 16th day of May.
1958 pursuant to ORS 249.340.

of S652.386.68 as a permanent county tax base of
$652,386.68 under Article XI, Section 11, Oregon

at least once every three years for the sole pur

prior to such election, and by caus
ing a full copy of this ordinance
to be posted at each of the places
for holding said election and at
three public places within the City
of Medford not less than two weeks
prior to such election.
SECTION 9. The judges and
clerks of said election in each pre
cinct shall be compensated by the
city for their services in connec
tion with the aforesaid special elec
tion in reasonable proportion to
the time by them spent thereon
and the City Manager is hereby
authorized to negotiate for and
enter into an agreement with the
County Clerk of Jackson County
with regard thereto: and the City
Recorder is authorized and direct
ed to provide such ballots and sup
plies for the conduct of such elec
tion as may be required to be sup
plied by the City of Medford in
connection therewith.

ior High School; and the other
election precinct consists of all that
part of the school district EAST
of Bear Creek and that part of the
school district formerly School

growers of pears in the above
named district, for the purpose of
electing nominees for grower
member, alternate grower member
and second alternate grower mem
ber of the Control Committee pur
suant to the provisions of the
above named Marketing Agreement
and Order as amended regulating
the growing of the Beurre D'Anjou,
Beurre Bosc, Winter Nelis, Doyenne
du Cornice, Beurre Easter and
Beurre Clairgeau varieties of pears
grown in the states of Oregon,
Washington and California, execut
ed by the Secretary of Agriculture
of the United States and now in
effect, will be held at 1:15 o'clock,
P.M. on the 16th day of May, 1958.

the surprise ceremony was
announced, a report came
from factory worker William
Patrick O'Callaghan of Car
diff, Wales, that Miss Kashfi
was his daughter, Joan, and
was not Indian as she claimed.
The 23-year-old dark-haired
beauty claimed she was born
in Darjeeling, India, and was
the daughter of Devi Kashfi.
She said her mother had mar
ried Patrick O'Callaghan, a
former civil servant.
