r Convention Delegation Announced By A delegation of seven will represent the Jackson Coun ty chapter, American Red Cross, at the annual national convention to be held in San Francisco May 19-21. Voting delegates will be Manville Heisel, chapter chairman, and Mrs. E. A. Lit trell, chairman of volunteer services. Mrs. Frank Fairweather, member of the national nom inating committee which met earlier this year In Washing ton, D.C., will serve as one of the national hostesses for the convention. Also representing the Jack- Riders to Enter Show on Sunday Three Medford girls plan to participate in the third annual southern Oregon spring horse show, Sunday, May 18, in Grants Pass. Miss Barbara Read will enter with her palo mino, half-Arab' mare, Arabfs Image; Miss Janet Young with her Palomino mare, Beau Belle and her American sad dlebred gelding, Pride of Car nation; and Miss Susan Wright with her thoroughbred-quarter horse mare, Brown Shas ta's Trixie. Some of the classes they plan to enter are western pleasure, reining stock horse, parade horse, English three gaited, palomino and English five gaited. Lively Rogues To Hold Dance Lively Rogues will "hold a dinner dance Thursday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Rogue Valley Country club. This is the annual sports event; men are to wear bright shirts and women cotton dresses. Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Meyer ding and Mr. and Mrs. Carl ton Bismark will be host cou ples for the dance, which is the last of the season. At a board of directors meeting Thursday noon at the Red Cross building, Mr. Heisel discussed resolutions which are to come before the con vention delegates. He intro duced Grant Quinney Jr., chairman of Junior Red Cross, and announced that he has been selected to attend a leadership training course to be given in Vancouver, B.C., the latter part of June. He reported on recent activi ties of the Junior Red Cross. Also introduced were Har low Carpenter, Waitsfield, Vt., architect for the new Red Cross building, and Mrs. Car penter; Mrs. Helen Stoery, Eugene, volunteer nursing consultant for the Red Cross who spent two days here con ferring with chapter officers and workers; and Gen. Joseph Hicks, civil defense director for the county. Reports were made by Mrs. Littrell, who spoke of the coming orientation program later this month; Mrs. F. H. Florey, nursing chairman; Mrs. Joseph W. Burba, blood bank chairman who stated that the Bloodmobile would be in the county June 11 and that many donors are needed; Jennings Pierce, public rela tions chairman. Following luncheon, served by the canteen corps volun teers, a film on the Red Cross bloodmobile program, was shown. Nurses Schedule Talk by Doctor Dr. J. T. Weisel will speak on eye surgery at the next meeting of the Oregon Nurses association, Jackson county district. The group will meet Tuesday, May 13, at 8 p.m. at Sacred Heart hospital. A. Littrell. Mrs. Luther, an active member for 20 years, is both chairman of Gray Ladies and recruitment of volunteers for all services. She Is also a member of the canteen. Mrs. Luther attends Trinity Episcopal church, Ash land, and is a member of the Colony club, vice-president of Girls Community club and member of its building board. Her son and daughter-in-law, Jr. and their two children, live in Phoenix. Mrs. Aimee Deuel is her co-chairman. Mrs. Littrell is chairman of volun teer services for the local chapter. She has been active in the work for 12 years serving trained in home service, nurse's aide, and the blood pro gram. A member of the Episcopal church, Mrs. Littrell is also active in Republican Woman's club and the League of Woman Voters. Her co-chairman is Mrs. Frank Preston, Mrs. J. W. Burba, chairman of blood for the Jackson County Red Cross chapter, is the files for walking donors This is one of the vital jobs whose committee is one of several at the local chapter. Dr. Bernard DENTIST Announces the Removal of his office From Medical Center Bldg. 30 Crater Medford, Oregon Ashland Student Winner Ashland Larry Neal, son of Mr.- and Mrs. Fred Roy! Neal, 310 Bridge street Ash-! land, has won first place in Oregon in the annual high school examination contest on the United Nations. The award was announced by Mrs. Beatrice T. Stevens, chairman of schools committee of the Oregon United Nations asso ciation. The award will be pre sented at a luncheon meeting at the Senator hotel, Salem, Saturday, May 17, during the annual statewide two day con ference of the association. The winner will receive an expense-paid trip to New York City where he will par ticipate in the 1958 Intercol legiate Leadership Institute on the United Nations. The sessions are sponsored by the Collegiate Council for the United Nations, college affil iate of the American Associa tion of United Nations, and will be held at Finch college. All students attending are either active in the college program or are interested in developing United Nations programs on their campuses. Examinations for the con test were held March 3 with more than 50,000 students participating for the national, state, and local awards. Other Ashland students to participate in the examination were Sybil Hamilton, Robert Pepper, Joyce Stewart, Den nis Holmes, and Duane Jarne gin. Miss Hamilton tied with Mr. Neal for first on the local level. The pupils are stu dents of William Leybold, his tory teacher at Ashland High Music Teachers To Hold Session Rogue Valley Music Teach ers association will hold its monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Harold H. Head, 1415 Eu lid avenue, Monday, May 12, at. 7:45 p.m. It will be the last meeting of the season. Mrs. Kenneth Brown and Mrs. Darell Huson will pre sent a group of duets which could be used as teaching ma terial.
