Try and Stop Me
By BENNETT CERF-
AN ENGLISH NEWSPAPER has been investigating a very
important matter: the number of times a cuckoo can call
without stopping. And since a great many English people tak
their bird - watching very .

One reader in Tilehurst
reported he had heard- a .
cuckoo call distinctly 121
times in succession. "A mere
nothing," pooh-poohed an
other reader from Leaming
ton Spa. Her cuckoo had
sounded off 205 times with
out a pause that refreshes!
A third reader counted
over 300 successive cuckoo
calls, but honorably dis
qualified himself when he
discovered he was standing
outside a clock factory.
