Nutritionist say that best types of sweets for growing children jre fresjti end dried fruits, fruit candies, jams, jellies and marmalade, tome HaRime 'Don't'- for Barents Parents are urged not to make g moral issue of food fn feeding the child. Tht agperte say that food choice should be automatic; that parent? should -not bfjrgejin by ftayinj "Johnny,, you may have your dessert only after you've eaten your carrots." Some other wrong tech niques are these: Urging one raore bite when the child has had enough; offering bribes or special privileges; forcing the cyhild to sit at the table when everyone else has fin ished; egting to "please moth er"; spoon feeding way be yond the age when the child should be feeding himself. Many feeding problems grise as result of mismanage ment during the first feeding experiments in miancy. All eating experiences should hB pleasant. Magiy baBies reject new food because the texture, taste or even the spoon are new ana anterent. A very young crgld prefers lukewm foods. Oftimes simply thin ning solid foods makes them more acceptable. Many ped iatricians begin with strained fruit rather than trained vegetables. The experts say that par ents should respect the wishes of their children in food and to accept changes in tastes end occasional food binges where a certain food or class of foods will be preferred for fi period of vtime. Seeding experiments have proven that children provid ed with ft spread of nutritious fbodS, make wise choice when they use only their ap petites as a guide an making their food , selections; indicat ed that children satisfied their nutritional requirements as judged by known stand ards. Singer foods like whole pieces of fruits and vegetables are excellent for toddlers who learn -iood through touch as well , as taste. Baby Food Storage Baby foods like other can ned and glassed foods should be stored in a dry, cool shelf in pantry, cupboard or cellar. Temperature should be mod erately cold. Avoid storage near steam pipes, radiators, furnaces , or kitchen range. Keep packaged baby cereals away from soaps. Unused portions of food may be covered and safely stored in original container in refrigerator. Orange Custard is Desseflrt Delight California citrus is filled with vitamins and minerals. LEI United Press Correspondent Wgshington IP The neutrino, powerful midget invented to solve strange thefts of energy in nuclear re actions, is .now being gsked to explain the even deeper mystery of gravitation. The "Neutrino Theory of Gravitation" was discussed at the annual meeting of the Na tional Academy of Sciences by Dr. L. I. Schiff of Stan ford University. If verified, it would be one of the greatest achievements in the history of man's strug gle to understand the universe since Albert Einstein's gen eral theory of relativity. The neutrino by definition is particle of no electrical charge and practically no size or weight. It has the greatest enetrating power of any thing yet dreamed up by science. Theoretically, a free neutrino could dash through trillions of miles of solid lead with no sweat. Physicists invented it to have something to blame for the apparent disappearance of energy in certain nuclegr processes. Without this cul prit they would be sunk, be cause one of the most devout ly held beliefs of science is that energy is imperishable nd can't possibly just decay into nothingnes. So when energy ecvms to vanish, the physicists say it Was abrlucted by neutrinos Which, by the time the deed is iecovered, may have escaped into the depths of space. In 1436 scientists of the Atomic Energy Commission comforted their colleagues everywhere) by proving ex perjmentelly for the first time that neutrinos, until then creatures solely of the ory, actually axist. In suggesting that energy transporting' neutrinos may be responsible for gravitation, Schiff is attacking on a sub nuclear livel mysteries which Einstein in 1956 sought to ex plain on an astronomical cale. Gravitation is a forca act ing betwaan bodies. It is What geeps tha moon tied to the earth and the earth to the sun. Einstein described gravi tation as an effect of space geometry. In the vicinity of massive bodies ha said, space is curved igi such a Way that smaller b o d i a naturally moved toward tha larger. Tke cale As description of what happens, Einstein's theory works fine on an astronomi cal scale. It does not however, explain the behavior of mat ter on an atomic and nuclear scale. ' , But another fet of prin ciples, called the Quantum theory, doe account for nu clear forces, and such elec tromagnetic manifestations g light, radio waves, and atomic radiation. Electromagnetic fore &, Schiff said, are produced by interchange o; energy pack ets between electrons or pro tons. Nuclear forces are gen erated by interchange of par ticles, called pi mesons, be tween neutrons and protons. "Several physicists," Schiff said, "have suggested that gravitational force might be analogous to electromagneti or nuclear forces in that they teaspoon fresh grated lem on juice IV2 teaspoons grated orange peel. Peel oranges and cut into cartwheel slices. Sprinkle lightly with sugar, cover and chill until needed. Mix flour, sugar and salt; add to scald ed milt in top of double boil er. Gradually add eggs; 3tir well. Cook until mixture coats the spoon. Remove from heat. 'Add orange juices and orange peel. Chill thoroughly. Serve with sweetened orange slices. Tuna Treat Variations Canned tuna is bargain priced, nutrition - packed. Creamed tuna is a luncheon standby in many families. We suggest these variations on your regular creamed tuna recipe: Heat one can of cream of mushroom soup and one-third cup milk untii smooth. Add one can tuna and heat through feur servings. ' To basic creamed tuna recipe, add one fourth cup sliced mushrooms, one-fourth cup chopped green pepper, one tablespoon chopped pim iento, two drops Worcester shire sauce. Serve on hot bis cuits or toast. Try creamed tuna or tuna a la king on pattey shells, toasted corn bread or waf fles. Serye creamed tuna on hot baked potatoes sprinkled with grated cheese and put under broiler for a moment to melt and bubble. Serve creamed tuna on thick salted and peppered to mato slices with onion or pepper rings for finger eat ing on the side. Gravif ion f heory' feat BoosS To Man eri&a from the exchange of some kind of pfrticla between thi interacting object . . . "The suggestion then arises that gravitational forces aris from interchgnge o neutrinos between any finds of matter." They also will re port at the next meeting. Other topics under discus sion att he meeting were the possible use of city land in tha Camp White area for rec reation facilities, the instal lation of camp fire facilities at Hawthorne park, nd the need vfor a meeting piece for elderly people.
