EDWARD ISAACS Edward Lyle Isaacs, 35, of S32 Haven st., Medford, died at a local hospital Wednesday morning. He was born at Chelsea, Okla.," Feb. 9, 1923, and was employed at the Klievef Ma chine shop in Medford. He was a member of the Medford Elks lodge, and a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines. Mr. Isaacs served in New Caledonia, Russell Islands, Palau Islands, and Ryuku Islands and partici pated in action agaiost the enemy forces at the Paleliu Islands, Palau Islands, Oki nawa and Ryuku Islands. Plans Talked For Old Timer Car Club Preliminary plans for or ganizing an Old Timer Car club in Medford were made at a recent meeting of about 12 old vehicle owners. The group plans an organi zational meeting Friday, May 9, at the west side fire hall at 8 p.m. Vehicles 25 years or older can qualify for the group. Several trips with the old vehicles are planned this sum mer. The club is the first of its kind to be organized in south ern Oregon. Portland Man Dies Following Dog Fight Portland (IP) A man collapsed and died Wednesday after breaking up a fight be tween his dog and another. The victim was Anton N. Jensen. The dog stood guard over the body and refused to al low officers to move it until Mrs. Jensen locked the dog up. The California Brewery As sociation announced it is shut ting down three plants, Burg ermeister in San Francisco, Falstaff in San Jose and Schlitz in Los Angeles. Operating Suspended At the same, time, the Dis tributors Association- suspend ed operations in non-struck plants in San Francisco, "San Diego, Long Beach, Santa Monica and metropolitan Los Angeles. The action left only the Lucky Lager and Regal Plants operating, in San Francisco and Pabst operating in Los Angeles. These 'firms own their own distributing sys tems. One thousand employees were affected by the distribu tors shutdown. They were told Tuesday at the close of busi ness that there will be no work until the strike is ended. The teamsters called a strike Sunday night at the Hamms Brewing Company plant in San Francisco and the Anheuser-Busch plant in Los Angeles to back demands for higher wages. Strike Against. All , Ray Smardon, manager of the Northern California branch of the Distributors As sociation, said the shutdowns were ordered on grounds that a strike against one is a strike against all. Despite the shutdowns, no immediate beer shortage was forecast. The reason was that many taverns, grocery firms and restaurants stocked heav ily in anticipation of a strike shutdown. The Teamsters Union is de manding a weekly pay raise of $6.50 and fringe benefits for its members,' including brewers, . bottlers, checkers and drivers. Employers have offered $4.
