Easter Sunday evening, was the wed ding of Miss Sallee Joan Buf fington to Andre Pierre Prou dian at St. Peter Evangelical church. The ceremony was read at seven o'clock by the Rev. Kenneth F. Korby, and about 80 guests attended. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sanford H. Buffington. 1123 West Ninth street, Medlord, and the bride groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Vahe Proudian, Cairo, Egypt. Mr. Buffington escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. She wore a gown of traditional white satin designed with long sleeves and an overskirt of Auxiliary Elects Officers Miss Laura York was re elected president of the Med ford unit, American Legion auxiliary, at a meeting Tues day at the home of Mrs. Earl Bigalow. Other officers elected were Mrs. Harry Leuty, first vice president: Mrs. Clark Walk er, second vice president; Mrs. Gladys Francis, secretary; Mrs.. Ross Minneci, treasurer; Mrs. Ellis Capps, sergeant-at- arms, and Mrs. Bert Staats, assistant sergeant - a t - arms. Mrs. Herbert Gifford and Mrs. Bigalow were elected as mem bers of the board. Also elected at the meet ing were delegates to attend the annual state auxiliary convention aE Astoria in June. They included Mrs. Francis, Mrs. Bigalow, Mrs. Leuty, and Mrs. Howard Goldsmith. Alternates were Mrs. Nettie Ellenberg, Mrs. Walker. Mrs. Keegan Townsend and Mrs. Merle Jarmin. The group voted to send contributions to the Crusade for Freedom, and the Oregon Association for Retarded Chil dren. It was announced that an American flag had been presented to a Brownie group. Members of the auxiliary have aided in the decorating of wheel chairs for floats that will participate in the Wheel Chair parade at Camp White this afternoon. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Leon Haskins and Mrs. Ellenberg at the close of the meeting. Ghana Residents Visit in Med ford Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rutter and their three sons, Jeremy, Stephen and Matthew, arrived in Medford Thursday to spend two weeks here with Mr. Rut' ter's brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Rutter, 1033 Queen Anne avenue. The visitors make their home in Accra, Ghana, where Mr. Rutter is deputy chief of mission for the United States embassy. Returns Mrs. R. W. 'Swartsley has returned to her home at 1122 East Main street after spend ing the past three weeks in Salem with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Swartsley. Mrs. Swarts ley made her home in Salem for many years, and was hon ored at a number of parties during her stay in the cap ital city. Her short veil was held by a coronet of pearls and she carried calla lilies. Miss Billee Buffington was her sister's honor attendant, and bridesmaids were Miss Margery Dinubilo and Miss Betty Lou Rupp, both of Fresno, Calif. Miss Buffing ton wore a white taffeta sheath frock with overskirt of pale green net and the brides maid's gowns were pink sheaths with matching over skirts. They carried carna tions. Little Paulette Simmons was flower girl. Her dress of pink taffeta and net fash ioned similar to those worn by the bridesmaids. Gilbert Khachadourian, Fresno, was best man for the bridegroom and ushers were Byron Dwelle and Edward Koumrian. Mrs. Richard Smith was organist, and Mrs. Lois Miller Windsor. Ashland, sang. The reception was held in the church parlor. Mrs. George Broussard, Fresno, aunt of the bride, cut the wedding cake. Assisting and pouring Mrs. Riemer Peterson, Mrs. J. G. Wolff and Mrs. Ed ward Rudd. Mrs. G. W. Sim mons took charge of the guest hook. For the wedding and re ception the bride's mother wore a chemise-type suit oi melon pink with brown or chid corsage. Easter lilies stood on the church altar and baskets of pink snapdragons, calla lil lies and spirea completed the decorations. Mr. Proudian and his bride are making their home in Fresno where both are stu dents at Fresno State college. The bride, attended Medford High school and Southern Oregon college before enroll ing in the California school. Her major is English litera ture. The bridegroom attended Lycee Francais d'Alexandrie in Egypt and the Sorbonne in Paris, France, before coming to the United States to' study. His major is nuclear physics. I Luncheon Planned By OSC Mothers Officers will be elected and installed at the spring luncheon Thursday, April 17, of the Jackson county unit nf Oreeon State College Moth ers club. The luncheon will be held at the Jackson hotel at 12 noon. Music will pro vide entertainment. Student Pledged By Honor Group Miss Carol Hussong, a stu dent at Lewis and Clark col lege, visited over the Easter holidays with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hussong, 56 South Barneburg road. Miss Hussong has recently been pledged to the Mu Phi Epsilon, national music so ciety, and was elected presi dent of the new pledge class. (Knacksiedt photo) Annual Session Closed By Daughters, Counci Installation of new council officers last night at Hedrick Junior High school was the final event in the 34th annual session 'of the Grand Guar dian Council of Oregon, In ternational Order of Job's Daughters. Grand bethel of ficers were installed Friday. More than 1200 bethel mem bers from throughout the state and almost 300 adults were registered for the ses sions, which also brought many other visitors to Med ford. Also on the convention pro gram Saturday were compet itive drills by several bethels and scrapbook award presen tations. Friday scholarships were announced, council officers- elected and day's pro gram climaxed with a formal dance at Hedrick' school for bethel members, DeMolay members and their guests. Honored guests were Miss Janice Williams, Grants Pass, new grand bethel queen, and Miss Carol Curran, Oregon City, retiring grand queen. Grand council officers in stalled last evening were Mrs. E. A. Goodnough, Eugene, grand guardian; Harold Mc Isaac, Parkdale, associate grand guardian; Mrs. Joseph Rogers, Independence, vice grand guardian; Walter John son, Portland, vice-associate grand guardian; Mrs. Ralph Nelson, Portland, grand guide; Mrs. W. Home Rites Wed Carol Ann Rayner To Jack McJunkin Ashland Miss Carol Ann Rayner, 476 North Laurel avenue, Ashland, became the bride of Jack Darrell Mc Junkin, Klamath Falls, in a wedding ceremony held Sun day, April 6, at two o'clock in the afternoon at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. David W. Clov er. The Rev. Ross Knotts of Ashland First Methodist church officiated at the cere mony, attended by 27 rela tives and friends. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Mary King, Talent, and J. A. Rayner, Tucson, Ariz. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mc Junkin, Klamath Falls. Given in marriage by her grandfather, David P. Clover, the bride wore a blue and white sheath dress .with navy blue duster. Her corsage was pink carnations and, she car ried a white Bible. Miss Roberta Ritchie, Ash land, attended the bride. She wore an orange ice colored sheath with matching duster. Her corsage'was of white car nations. Michael McDonald served as best man. Following the ceremony a reception was held. Mrs. C. F. Conley cut and served the wedding cake while Mrs. Charles R. Kinney and Mrs. David W. Clover poured the punch. Miss Charlotte Buck les was in charge of the guest book. . Medford Student To Give Concert Corvallis Karl Douglas Cummings of Medford will appear in one, of the spring concerts to be presented dur ing April and May at Oregon State college by outstanding music students. Young Cummings will pre sent a program of piano selec tions April 23 along with Jeanette Vittier of San Jose, Calif., who will present vocal selections. Eight student con certs are planned this spring by the music department. The student is a freshman in engineering. A 1957 gradu ate of Medford senior high school, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Cummings, 1900 Cherry heights. Yard Inspector To Speak Here Inspector Walter Henry Thompson of Scotland Yard, the man who had the Yard's most important assignments for almost 20 years, will speak to 'the Rogue Valley Knife and Fork club at the Rogue Valley Country club, Thurs day, April 24. As a member of the special branch of Scotland Yard, Mr. Thompson's assignment, in ad dition to protecting Britain's Prime Minister Winston Chur chill, included those of guard ing the Royal family and visit ing dignitaries. Dickenson, Shady Cove, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Joanne, to Ted Wayne Daw, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Daw, Eagle Point. Miss Dickenson is a student at Eagle Point High school. Mr. Daw is a graduate of Eagle Point High school and plans to attend Oregon Tech nological Institute; Klamath Falls. - An August wedding is plan ned. Medford Couple Returns to City Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Thorn dike have returned to Med ford after a winter vacation of several weeks. The Thorn dikes left here December 26 for Florida,- stopping first in Tucson, and in Fallbrook, Calif., visiting a sister of Mr. Thorndike in the latter city. In Florida they took an apartment on Treasure is land near St. Petersburg, and "waited for the good weath er." The Thorndikes report that the unseasonable cold not only caused large losses in crops and cattle, but also destroyed some of the state's finest gardens. En route home the couple stopped at The Cloisters, a Sea island resort off the coast of Georgia, and in Vicksburg, Miss., they visited the Civil War battlefields. Returning through Arizona they made stops in Phoenix, and Yuma and report that heavy rains resulted in an unusually heavy bloom of desert flowery. as seen on TV V I DCkorj. Q CO J. D) Oi4m O On ' Medford Couple Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. Oliver O. Mor ton, Old Military road, Med ford, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Lin da, to Kenneth L. Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Myers, 1101 Woodrow lane, Medford. Miss Morton is a senior at Medford High school. Mr. Myers also attended Medford High school and served with the United States Navy. He is employed by the U. S. postal service in Medford. No date has been set for the wedding. Miss Linda Morton Music Teachers To Hold Recital Plans for the recital to be held in Churchill hall at Southern Oregon college Sun day, April 20, were completed at the last meeting of the Rogue Valley Music Teach ers association. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. W. E. Hercher, 1608 Stratford avenue. The recital will be held at 3 p.m. with only pupils of teachers who are members of the Rogue Valley chapter el igible to participate. Miss Helene Robinson is in charge of the program and ar rangements Teachers whose pupils will participate include Mrs. Kenneth Brown, Mrs. Effie Kurtz, Mrs. Norma Head, Mrs. Shirley Hercher, Mrs. Darell Huson, Mrs. Mar garet Ketchum, Mrs. Edla Peterson and Miss Robinson. The recital is open to the public. Shirley Christie And Gary Holm To Wed in May Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Christie, 307 South Holly street, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Shirley, to Gary Holm, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roland H. Holm, of Cave Junction. Miss Christie is a graduate of Rogue River High school and is employed as an assist ant to Dr. Norman Capsey. Mr. Holm attended Cave Junction schools and is em ployed by California Oregon Power company. The wedding will be held May 3. Senator Gill To Be Honored Republican Women of Jack son county will hold a recep tion for State Senator War ren Gill Thursday, April 17, from 3 until 4 p.m. in the lobby of the Medford hotel. Mr. Gill, who is senator from the Second district, Linn County, is seeking the Repub lican nomination for gover nor in the May primary. The local Republican Can didates' fair will be held Monday, April 21, at the Rogue Valley Country club at 12 noon. Grace of Hono lulu, Hawaii, to Staff Ser geant Donald D. Stockhoff, son of Mr. and Mrs. K. G. Stockhoff, 721 Bennett ave nue, Medford. The wedding will be held Saturday, April 19, in Ka waiahao church in Honolulu at one o'clock in the after noon.
