Gaiag Fir Storagej shelves, stored articles ana the underside of the roof were damaged in a garage fire bout -4:30 p.m. yesterday at the Charles Bennett resi dence, 1433 Whitman ave., firemen reported. They said the blaze originated in a paper-lined garbage can in which ashes from a fireplace had been deposited. The fire extended along the corner of the garage to the shelves. i II In n I il : . ! Cited Zelma Heeter, 833 West Jackson st., and Mar shall Dale Sellers, 139 Perry dale ave., were involved in a collision at 10th and Lincoln sts., about 4:30 p.m. Thurs day, according to city police. They said Sellers was vited for violation of the basic rule. Rail Hit A vehicle, sus peced to be registered to a Raymond Privette, route 1, box 447, Central Point, was involved in a collision with a guard rail near the Richfield Truck stop, North Highway 99, about 6 a.m. Friday morn ing, according to city police. Class Cancelled The classes of Bliss Heine's Jun iors will not meet this week because of participation in the Pear Blossom parade Satur day. Classes will resume the following week. Dolls on Loan Eighteen pear dolls have been loaned to the Jacksonville museum by Mrs. H. A. Davis. The dolls' faces are constructed of dried pears. They can be seen in the children's room of the museum. Museum Visits About 80 members of the Jobs daugh ter's convention now in Med ford 'visited the Jacksonville museum Friday morning. Also visiting the museum today was about 50 students from the Kerby grade school near Cave Junction. Classes To Visit Students of the Grants Pass Junior High school - will visit the Jacksonville museum on Sat urday, April 12. This will be one of the last groups of Grants Pass students to com plete the tour of the museum, according to officials. Medford Man Taken To Josephine Jail Fred Lee Walters Jr., 22, of 89 Vashti Way, was trans ferred to Josephine county jail from Jackson county Thursday on a charge of ob taining money by false pre tense.: Sheriff's deputies here re ported Tuesday that Walters had turned himself in as ab sent without leave from the San Diego Naval hospital. Police said the boy, in a signed statement, admitted to several other minor thefts from local stores. He was lodged in the Jackson County Juvenile Detention home pending action by juvenile authorities. Burglary Charges Set Against Smith Roger Gordon Smith, 24, of 106 Crater Lake ave., was ar raigned in circuit court this morning on an indictment charging burglary not in a dwelling. He is expected to enter a plea April 15. Smith was arrested by Medford police in connection with the theft Maarch 30 of a safe from Southern Oregon Distributors Inc., 710 South Grape st. Tempera tures above normal. Rail Issues Pull Stock List Higher New York (TP) Railroad is sues got up a good head of steam late today to pull the stock market into irregularly higher ground. Trading was moderate. ' Aircrafts met support late in the session, which helped to give the market a much better appearance. The market had moved cau tiously most of the day, but when buying came into the rails it spilled over into some of the other groups. Gains of around a "point or more appeared in Baltimore & Ohio and Southern Rail way. A number in this group added major fractions. Doug las rose more than a point in a firm aircraft group. Motors were a bit easier.
