Timber Sales Net Total of $255,867, Forestry Men Say A total of about 9,980,000 board feet of timber was sold in five sales for a total of $255,867.50 on Tuesday after noon, according to Rogue na tional forest officials. The service had appraised the timber sold at a total value of $177,171. Several other sales of timber are scheduled in the next two months under the forest service's program of expanded sales, officials said. Largest of the tracts sold was the Rye Springs in the Ashland- district which was 3 million board feet and sold for $45,700 to Emil Unger, Medford. There were 10 bid ders and 28 oral bids on the tract which was apparaised at $34,240. The golden Stairs tract in the Prospect district sold, for $83,847 to the McGrew broth ers of Medford and contained about 2 and 15 million board feet of timber. There were eight bidders and 64 oral bids on the tract which was ap praised at $52,382.50. A tract on the South Castle creek in the Union Creek dis trict, containing about 1 and 25 million board feet of timber, was sold to Skeeters and Skeeters company of Prospect for $40,950. Ap prasied value for the tract, which had 15 bidder and six oral bids, was $22,325,50. ' The Dry Butte tract in the Klamath district sold for $59, 090.50 to Modoc Lumber company of Klamath Falls. There was one. other bidder and 10 oral bids on the tract. Appraised value for the 2 45 million board feet of ber was $51,385.50. The River Bottom tract in the Union Creek district was sold by sealed bid to the Mc Grew brothers of Medford for $26,280. Appraised valued of the section was listed at $16,- 837.50. Twelve bids were re ceived on the section, accord ing to officials. and tirfcb Charley Family Said Recovering Two members of the Wes ley H. Charley family of Eagle Point who were injured in an automobile accident March 22 on Highway 62 are still hospitalized, according to hospital officials. At Rogue hospital Mrs. Dor othy Charley is reported in fair condition while her younger daughter, Janet Faye, 7, is reported in good condi tion at Sacred Heart hospital. Also injured in the accident were Charley, 31, of 127 North st., Eagle Point, who was released from Sacred Heart hospital March 25 and Carolyn Kay, 9, another daughter, who was released from Rogue Valley hospital April 2. Two men, driver and pas senger in the other vehicle in volved in the accident, were killed in the collision. Work Crews Turn Out To Work On Gridiron Eagle Point A five-man volunteer work crew hauled about 200 yards of dirt for fill in the Eagle Point high school football field last Saturday. Three trucks and a loader were furnished by area busi ness firms, according to Glenn Hale district school superin tendent, one of the vol unteers. Others taking part in Saturday work were E. N.
