Morrow Topped
In Century
By Two Racers
Big Spring Tex. (IP)
Duke's dashing Dave Sime
and unsung Bill .Woodhouse
both bested 01mypics print
champion Bobby Morrow in
the heralded sprint "race-of-the
century" Saturday in the
comparatively slow wind
blown time of 9.6 seconds.
The husky New Jersey red
head seemed to come out of
the starting blocks in front
and stayed there, pulling
away ever so gradually in the
final 50 yards as Woodhouse,
who has been Morrow's shad
ow for two seasons at Abi
lene Christian, strained home
in a surprising second place.
Their dash classic stole the
show from the rest of the
field in the ABC relays, but
Southern Methodist's Swed
ish import, Bertil Holmgren,
salvaged a bit of glory against
the 40-mile sand blasts when
he turned in a high jump of
6 feet 95s inches one of
the best jumps in the nation
this season.
