But this one just slipped up on us. X vfr 4 It NEW ROCKET PLANE Douglas Aircraft Company en gineer Kermit van Every has released details of a design study launched in 1953 for this manned aircraft. Desig nated the Navy's D-558-IH, this rocket-powered space plane was designed to fly 6000 miles per hour, and 140 miles above the surface of the earth. The project was later dropped for lack of funds. Library Week, Plans Laid by Committee The Jackson county commit tee for National Library Week, March 15 to 22, met yesterday to discuss plans for local observance of the event. Members of the committee, named by ex-Gov. Charles A. Sprague, Salem editor and chairman of the statewide committee, include the Rev. Thomas McCamant, of the Congregational church, chair man, and Mrs. Una B. Inch, Mrs. Ward Hammond, Mrs. Dunbar Carpenter, Hal Gard ner and Frank J. Van Dyke. Meeting with the group in an advisory capacity were Miss Helea Webster, Medford librarian, and Eric Allen Jr., president of the library's board of trustees and a mem ber of the state Library Week committee. Tentative Plans - Tentative plans to seek co operation of service groups in holding an open house in the library that week were laid. It is planned to have guided tours of the library, and loca authors will be invited to par ticipate. Cooperation of public offi cials, both of Medford and the county, will be sought in making the week a success, and newspapers, radio and television will be asked to as sist in publicizing the library and the service it offers to residents of the county. Supplies of fact sheets tell ing of the library are to be prepared, the ' chamber of commerce will be invited to join in the observance through its Greeters and Education committees, and the schools of the county will also be asked to participate. Additional plans will be made between now and the middle of March, committee members said. .
