reports that companies com
peting for college men are
now aiming their recruiting
programs at juniors as well
as seniors.
C. K. Wallace says the In
creasing demand for college
graduates has brought a no
ticeable trend toward com
pany offers of summer jobs
to juniors.
One firm has found that
enough of these -summer
trainees return on a perma
nent basis after graduating to
meet its recruiting needs,
thus avoiding the headaches
of senior recruiting, Wallace
said.
The Princeton d r o 2 r a m
helps place undergraduates in
summer jobs connected with
their studies. The orocram
has been compulsory for jun
ior engineering students for
some 35 vears and in 1947
it was extended to students
in liberal arts.
Wallace said the greatest
demand at his office this year
for summer help was for stu
dents in engineering and sci
ences, but that more requests
than usual were received for
liberal arts men.

ertius of economics at the Uni
versity of Virginia, died
Thursday at the University of
Virginia hospital. Kincaid, a
native of Palouse, Wash., was
a financial writer for the San
Francisco Call before he be
came a faculty member at the
university in 1922. He was for
merly a vice president of the
Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
