Several building projects were completed during the year while others are still in the process 'of being built or are still in the blueprint stage, according to a poll conducted of many of the local churches. During the year Ascension Lutheran church was official ly organized and completed a $45,000 unit of a proposed church building. New church in Medford was the Open Bible Standard church which originally held services in the Moose hall and now have a parsonage and a partially completed church building on Table Rock rd. St. Luke's Methodist church held groundbreaking cere monies during September for their building, while the Ash land Methodists completed Wesley house on Southern Oregon collep campus for college students. First Meth odists in Medford completed their new parsonage and ad ded - two memorial stained glass windows to their sanctu ary. Youth Directors Two youth directors were added to church staffs here Miss Eleanor Bower arrived at First Christian church while Miss Lucille Rieben as sumed duties at First Pres byterian church. Also high on the list for major stories was the pur chase of property for future church sites by four churches Among those purchasing property for future church construction were the Med ford Seventh-day Adventists, First Christian church, and the First Church of God. Med ford Community church mov ed from their building on South Central ave. to West Main st. at Orange ave. Several churches added new auditoriums to their pre sent buildines. They included Central Point Church ofl Christ, Ashland Seventh-day Adventists, and Phoenix First Baptist. Remodeling was com pleted by Butte Falls Com munity Bible church and First Church of the Nazarene. Last year saw the Protest ant churches combine to pro mote the use and understand ing of the Bible by two days of Bible emphasis workshops and speakers. Keynoter for the conference was Dr. Eug ene Carson Blake, then pres ident of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Dr. and Mrs. A. P. Klom haus, Rogue River, members of St. Peter Evangelical Luth eran church, left the valley during May to assume duties as medical missionaries in New Guinea. Mother Marie-Therese de Le scure, 73, superior general of the Roman Catholic Society of the Sacred Heart, died at the mother house of the order here Tuesday.
