Police said the cable had been cut with a knife. Keys Missing Ted Wendell Hammond, 423 Beatty st., told Medford police a set of car keys had been taken from a car on the Valley Motors lot, 244 North Riverside ave. Bulbs Taken Ray Llewellyn Casterline, 45 South Modoc ave., reported to city police Monday evening about $7.50 worth of Christmas tree bulbs were taken from an outside display on his front lawn. Police said about 30 light bulbs were taken. Tonsillectomy Miss Janet Hammer, 10-year-old daughter of Mrs. Bonnie Hammer, 2408 Jo Jack rd., is confined to Med ford Osteopathic hospital follow ing a tonsillectomy this morn ing, it was reported by attend ants. ' In hospital-herald Byrd, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Byrd, 2265 Siskiyou st., under went surgery at Rogue Valley hospital today, according to a hospital report. Ronald Ludwig, 7, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles S. Ludwig, 86 Clover lane, is in the hospital following a tonsil lectomy, i Daughter Born Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gundry, former Med ford residents now living in Port land, are the parents of a daugh ter, Karen Louise, born Dec 7. Firemen Called Medford firemen answered a call to the Joe Koyama residence, 520 South Central ave., Monday morning after heavy smoke from a fireplace alarmed resi dents, the department reported today. A second call was an swered about 5:20 p.m. to ex tinguish several piles of burn ing railroad ties along the Medco right of way near Hilton rd. along the Crater Lake high way. The fire marshal issued eight orders for corrections fol lowing inspection of six business occupancies and a public assem bly building. Obituaries LOUIS O. GUERINGER Funeral services for Louis O. Gueringer, '67, of route 2, box 167C, Central Point, who died Monday will be held in the First Baptist church of Phoenix, First and Rose sts., at 11 a.m. Thurs day. The Rev. Perry Johnson will officiate. Committal will be in Memory Gardens with Conger-Morris Funeral home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Gueringer was born in Alexandria, La., May 3, 1890. On Dec. 28, 1918, in Oakdale, La., he was married to Anna McDonald, who survives. He had lived in southern Oregon since 1943. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Mrs. L. H. Hulse, Medford; and three sons, Earl Gueringer, Medford; Abner Mayo, Burney, Calif.; and Rob by McDonald, Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; three brothers, Charley, Huey and Emmet Guer inger, all in Louisiana; and two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Elliott and Mrs. Jinney Edwards, both of Louisiana. Martin, 76, of Gold Hill, who died Monday, will be held in the Conger-Morris Funeral home at 10 ajn. Thursday. The Rev. Thos. McCamant of the Congre gational church, will officiate. Committal will be private at Siskiyou Memorial park. Mr. Martin was born Nov. 18, 1881, in Middleburne, W. Va., and had lived in Gold Hill for the past 50 years. He was em ployed by the cement company there for 37 years, retiring in 1952. He was married Aug. 10, 1918, in Ashland, to Virginia Beeman, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Jack Martin, Lafayette, La.; a daugh ter, Miss Jillinda Martin, Gold Hill; four grandchildren; a sis ter, Mrs. Hallie Alley, Lewiston, Ida.; and a brother, Dallas Mar tin, Wheeling, W Va. HARRY HAMMETT Funeral services- for Harry Hammett, 83, of 2130 Stewart ave., Medford, who died Satur day, will be held at Perl fun eral home at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. D. E. Millard will officiate. In terment will be in the Memory Gardens park. Mr. Hammett was born in England April 28, 1874, and had been in this country for the past 71 years, and a resident of this community for the past 40 years. He was married to Miss Grace Jones, Dec. 1, 1913. Survivors include his wife, Grace, of Medford; two daugh ters, Mrs. Marguarete Bordwell, Cedarville, Calif., and Mrs. Marie Ford, Ashland; two sons, Dewey T. Hammett, Roseburg, and Leslie E. Hammett, Camas Valley, Ore.; one brother, Wil liam Hammett, Medford, and 10 grandchildren'. It is requested that in lieu of flowers a donation be made the cancer fund in care of the local postmaster. MRS. CATHRINE GIVAN Funeral services for Mrs. Cathrine Johana Givan, 87, of rt. 1, box 116, Eagle Point, who died Monday, will be held in Perl Funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The Rev. D. E. Millard will officiate. Interment will be in the Central Point cemetery. . Mrs. Givan was bom m Eagle Point Aug. 1, 1870, and was a resident of this community all her life. Survivors include one daugh ter, Mrs. Arthur B. Kneass, Medford; four sons, Charlie L. Givan, Dewey and Tommy Giv an of Eagle Point, and Fay A. Givan of Lapwai, Idaho; one neice, Mrs. Lillian Bleil, Mo desto, Calif.; and two nephews, Henry A. Owens, Medford, and J. Verne Owens, Klamath Falls. Her husband, George A. Givan, preceedded her in death last April. The 1956-57 world agricultur al production was estimated to be about 17 per cent greater than the average during the- period 1948 to 1952. Howard, 790 Park, st., Ashland. Highway Marking Uniformity Sought . Salem 0P A step toward uniformity in street and high way traffic marking will be tak en Jan. 1 when a manual of State Highway Commission reg ulations for uniform traffic con trol devices is distributed to all cities and counties. State Highway Engineer W. C. Williams said "every motor ist has a right to expect that every traffic sign or marking will have the same meaning, color and shape, and- require the same action on his part re gardless of where it is encoun tered." Under Oregon law the com mission is required to establish standards for the design and use of traffic control devices on streets and highways. The manual will mark the first time a comprehensive vol ume containing all regulation! has been issued.
