S. Agricluture Depart ment reports farm ownership is at an all-time high with only one of three farms having a mortgage. 1440 kc Sunday, December IS, 1SS7 Boy Trapped Five Days in Truck Body Portland H? A 13-year-old boy who said he was trapped five days in an abandoned truck body was recuperating at his home Friday. The boy, Francis Clow, was 13 pounds lighter and suffered from a severe foot infection apparent ly brought on by exposure to wet and cold. The boy told his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. Clow, that he finally escaped from the truck body by beating his way out with an iron pipe. He disappeared from his home Nov. 29 and returned Dec. 4. He said that he got into the truck and the door accidentally slam med shut and locked from the outside. He said he yelled for help but apparently no one heard him. He said he had nothing to eat but was able to get some moisture through a hole in the side of the truck body. Police searched for the boy in the vicinity of the truck but found no trace of him, the mother said. Reservists May Get Checks by Christmas Vancouver, Wash. HP) Word was received here Friday that the Fort Lewis finance office has decided that December payrolls will be paid as soon as they are received from Oregon military district units, and every effort will be made to mail the checks to Army reservists before Christ mas. Earlier it was reported that the Army was not going to pay on any reserve payrolls submitted after Nov. 28 until Jan. 1 when new funds would be available. Capt. Warren Mack, Vancou ver Barracks public information officer, said that Fort Lewis re versed itself after rearranging budget funds to meet the pay rolls. Capt. Mack said some 450 re servists belonging to Vancouver Barracks units will be paid their $60,000 payroll for drill duty performed in the past three months in time for them to spend some of the cash on Christmas shopping.
