Newspaper Page Text1 o o Local and Personal Bicycle Stolen Cornelius Henrkkson, 16 North Orange St., reported to city police that a bicycle was taken from the stands at the YJICA about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. Can Collide Vehicles oper ated by William Lee Osborn, 316 West Alain st., Talent, and Rich ard M. Edmund, 539 Bessie st., Medford, were involved in an accident on Highway 99 a the Talent junction yesterday morn ing, according to state police. Officers said Osborn started entering the highway, saw the approaching vehicle and at tempted to back up. Edmund ap plied the vehicle's brakes and it skidded into the other car, po lice said. There were no cita tions, and damage was minor, they added. Bicycle Missing Susan D. Patterson, 324 South Grape St., told Medford police last night that a bicycle was taken from the Jefferson grade school bicy cle racks about 4:30 p.m. Thurs day. Overcoat Missing John Da cid Watkins, 920 South Ivy St., told city police that his overcoat and a pair of gloves were taken from his car while it was parked on North Fir st., between sixth and Fifth sts. Police said Wat kins valued the items at $75. Goes Into Dilch A car oper ated by Richard Duane Hayes, 22, of Glendale, went into a ditch near Savage Rapids dam on Highway 99 early this morn ing, according to state police. Hayes was not injured, and no citations were issued, they said. Hubcaps Walter Scott Gibbs, 1375 South Columbus st., re ported to Medford police that two hubcaps were taken from his car Wednesday evening. He valued the hubcaps at $25, they said. Gibbs told police the theft took place while his car was parked on Eighth st. and at Riverside ave. Collision Lyio Gene Gyck sen, 219 Old Pacific highway, and Harold Edward Baker, 1401 Dakota ave., were drivers of cars involved in a collision at Grape and Monroe sts. about 4:32 p.m. Wednesday, according to Medford police. The acci dent occurred about 11:59 a.m. Wednesday at Fifth and Holly sts., police said. To Eugene Dr. and Mrs. Jou ett Bray left Thursday for Eu gene and Longview, Wash. Dr. Bray plans to attend the Oregon State Chiropractic Association convention in Eugene. Mrs. Bray continued to Longview to visit her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Chambers. They plan to return to Medford early next week. Ciled David Champy Mc Collum, 314 West Jackson, was cited for operating a vehicle without a licensed driver in the front seat, following an accident in which a car he was driving collided with one driven by John Thomas Mardon, 713 Nar regan st. about 7:52 a.m. Thurs day on West Jackson st., police said. Accident A car operated by Norbert Richard Schieber, 27, of 723 West 11th st., Medford, failed to make a turn on Dark Hollow rd. about 545 p.m. yes terday and ran off the road into a fence, state police reported. Schieber nor two passengers, Dorothy Loose, 37, of 421 South Front St., and Cecil Welburn, 36, Ft. Jones, Calif., were injured, they said. Schieber wsa cited for being drunk on a public high way, police said. On Clinic Dean Benson, Med- ; ford High school track coach, j has been named to replace Dan Bulkley, Southern Oregon col lege track tutor, on the physi cal education and caoching clinic Saturday at the Ashland college. Bulkley will attend a Pacific Northwest Ski association meet ing. The clinic is being held in connection with- gymnasium dedication events at the school. Glenn L. Linn, secretary of the group, said that response was immediate, and is encourag ing. The funds will be used to fi nance a trip by the MHS band to the Shrine East-West game in San Francisco Dec. 28. This is the seventh consecutive year the band has been invited to per form. A high school music concert, also to raise funds for the trip, will be given at the school Sun day at 1:45 p.m. According to I. A. Mirick, su pervisor of instrumental music for the school system and leader of the high school band, an Inno vation at the game this year will be the featuring of three south ern Oregon high school bands Medford, Klamath Falls and Grants Pass in a special pre game demonstration at Kezar stadium. Other features of the trip will include visits to Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, and other attractions by band members. Linn said that if anyone is "missed" in the mailing of the letter of solicitation, donations may be mailed to - him at 119 Washington st., Medford. Size of contributions is not important, he stated, adding that it is hoped to receive many small gifts rath er than a few large ones. About $3,000 is needed for the project. Ber nard Hogan, 60, a resident of the Applegate valley for 47 years who died in a local hospital Tuesday, will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic church, 10th st. and Oakdale ave., at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. William Mc Leod will officiate. Interment will be in the Medford IOOF cemetery. Mr. Hogan was born in Chip pewa Falls, Wise, Feb. 12, 1897. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church. He is survived by two sisters, Olive Amy Hogan, Applegate, and Mrs. Genevieve Haller, Troutlake, Wash., and several nieces and nephew.
