A circuit court jury returned a verdict of guilty Wednesday in the case of Mrs. Maude Brown, 36, who was charged with unlawfully obtain ing public assistance funds. The case was the first of several welfare fraud cases to come to trial here. Defense Counsel Irvin Good man asked time before sen tencing and indicated he would seek a new trial or an arrest of judgment. and daughter, Carolyn, visited briefly in the meadows Sunday evening. Tur ner has filed an application for the approval of a change in point of di version of water from Rogue River. The Supplemental findings of fact and order of determination of the State Engineer entered January 10, 1940, in the matter of the determina tion of the relative rights of the vari ous claimants to the use of the water of Rogue River and its tributaries, determined the extent to which the Rinchoate water rights were completed in tne nogue ttiver adjudication pro ceedings. In said findings the State Engineer found that Frances M. Ash had reclaimed and irrigated 1.5 acres in Lot 6 (SEHNW'il, Section 3, Township 34 South. Range 1 West, W.M., from Rogue River with a date of priority of 1906. These lands are irrigated through the Allen ditch, the point of diversion of said ditch being located 2200 ft. N. and 920 ft.
