I am girl of 26 and I have a fault that people tell me will get me into a lot of trouble. I am too honest. For the past year I have been in love with a young man who .has taken me out from time to time. Sometimes I think he is very much interested in me, but then he'll disappear for weeks on end. The last time I saw him, I just blurted out how I felt tgbout him. He seemedqastounded, but pleased, and didn't say any thing about his own feelings. jjiaturally I thought this would bring things to a head, but no thing has happened. He takes me out occasignally as before, but doesn't even refer to what I said. I love him so much that I feel like proposing ta him and get ting a yes or no answer. Than I would know where I stand. My best friend thinks I'm crazy. Ellen R. I warned Dora against cheapening herself by telling this man how she feels about him. I told her he would never consider her after that be cause no man likes a woman to run after him. I think it would be much bet ter if Dora just turned the tables on him now playd hard-to-get and absolutely refused to see him when he calls. She doesn't seem to understand that this would be much more provocative than her being available every time he calls. I have known Dora since child hood and I know she has always gotten into trouble by wearing her heart on her sleeve. She is the same way when she doesn't like people. She just lets them know iteven though she may happen to need their goodwill. I like this about her, but others can't take it. Th Council: Dora may be somewhat too outspoken, but we don't think Ellen's pat formulas for man-tapping are the answer to her troubles. Such formulas take all the interest and Indivi duality out of the game. We do think, however, that this time Dora has gone far enough with her honest approach and it won't be necessary to pro pose. This man is evidently thinking things over and has not arrived at any conclusion. If Dora proposes now,- he'fl prob ably be forced to say no. If the man in Dora's life doesn't soon arrive at some deci sion and if she is not interested in his friendship, pure and simple, she ought to give him up for real, not to just be "pro vocative." Highway Commission Staff Is Accused of Prolonging 9 Suits The largest cherry producing center in the U.S. is Door county, Wisconsin, which yields up wards of 18 million or more pounds a year. Redmond (IP) A John Day attorney today accused the legal staff of the State Highway com mission of threatening to pro long the nine Mitchell flood dam age suits until the people of Mitchell run out of money. Referring to the Mitchell wat erspout of July 13, 1956, in a let ter to Gov. D. Holmes, Roy Kil patrick of Canon City, one of the attorneys for the nine re maining plaintiffs said, "the same bungling bureaucrats who caused the damage are now try ing to keep the victims from being compensated." The Mitchell residents are su ing the State Highway commis sion for negligence in connec tion with the flood that exten sively damaged the central Ore gon city. Claims Threat Mad In a letter to Robert B. Chess man, a member of the three man State Highway commission, Kilpatrick said, "we have been threatened by your legal staff that they will force us to try each case and that they will ap peal each case to the Supreme Court and that they have more money and more attorneys than the people of Mitchell and will be able to wear the citizens down." Kilpatrick said the statement referred to a threat allegedly made to Dennis L. Marvin of the McKay and Panner law firm in Bend during the Oregon State Bar convention by an unidenti fied member of the Highway Department legal staff. Court Lays Cause In his letter to the Governor, Kilpatrick said that a court had ruled that the damage? to Mitch ell was caused by the Highway Department and that the decis ion was not appealed. He added that in the face of this decision, no member of the Highway com mission had yet made any In spection or shown any interest in the problem. Charles H. Reynolds, chairman of the Highway commission, said he did not believe a threat to prolong the court battle had beeiTmade. He said the commis sion has no legal right to pay the claims and that each cause should be determined by the courts on its own merits. There are nine cases left to be tried totalling $200,000. Radar Installation Done for UAL Planes United Air Lines, one of three commerical airlines serving Med ford, Tuesday announced that they have completed installation of radar on all planes in service. The five million dollar pro gram was begin at San Francisco about two years ago. United has 186 planes equipped with the equipment, according to officials.. The new equipment enables pilots to examine clouds up to 150 miles away to avoid poten tial turbulence. , United is the first airline to equip their en tire fleet.
