Stock Market Makes
Up Most Losses Today
New York TCP) The stock
market came back like a lion
today and made up most of the
losses suffered Tuesday on news
of the President's illness.
Tuesday's sharp sell-off de
pressed stock prices to the point
where bargain hunters couldn't
resist the urge to buy.
The rally restored more than
four billion dollars to market
values, which was about one bil
lion shy of what had been lop
ped off Tuesday.
, The oils featured on the up
side as a group. Gulf Oil was
the pace-setter rising eight points
at its high. It lost part of this
gain later. Amerada, Shell, So-cony-Mobil,
Cities Service, Un
ion Oil of California, and Skelly
all were strong. Zenith rose al
most 10 points at its high and
touched a new high in the tele
vision - electronics group. Doug
las rose more than 5 in the air
crafts and Lukens and Wheeling
more than four each in the steels.
