o Indianapolis Speedway Man Royal Family Observes Fighter Squadrcn To Give Safety Lecture Here! Wedding Anniversary fijp, in canrU An educational highway safe ty program will be brought to Medford high school tomorrow by an Indianapolis speedway driver, it was announced today. Fred Agabashian, who began his career on California tracks when 17 years old and has raced in the famed Indianapolis speed way classic 11 times, will con duct the lecture-demonstration here. Agabashian will illustrate his talk with a racing film, a flannel-board demonstration and with anecdotes from his own rac ing experience. He will com pare, race track situations to highway driving. Upon request, he will give student cars a safety inspection, explaining how to de tect functional defects that could lead to traffic accidents. Lecture teams of interna tionally known track veterans are in their third year of per sonally giving teen-agers expert instruction on safety from ex periences on the race track and on the highways. The visit here has been arranged by Littrell Parts. The National Safety Council Public Interest Award of Excep tional Service to Safety was re cently presented to the Cham pion Spark Plug Company of Toledo, Ohio, for developing and maintaining this highway safety program in public schools. The program was developed to supplement the work of sec ondary school educators in em phasizing the safe driving theme The nation's top race drivers Indianapolis Speedway veterans were selected in order to gain and hold the attention and re spect of students, many of whom 1 are familiar with their names Fred Agabashian is one of the worlds few drivers who have qualified for membership' in the exclusive Champion 100-Mile-an-Hour Club, a feat attainable by driving the 500-mile Indianapo lis race without relief at an average speed in excess of 100 mph. More than any motorist on the highway, he points out, profes sional race drivers know the cru cial necessity of driving with a mind constantly alert, with sound judgment at all times, and with a constant spirit of courtesy. They know the im portance of having cars in sound mechanical condition. These race drivers travel from 35,000 to 50, 000 accident-free miles per year, on public highways, going from race to race and school to school. IN PRAYER The mid-week services of your church provide on unexcelled opportunity to strengthen your spiritual life. ' DONT FAIL . To Attend the Wills' Meetings Last Three Nights First Baptist Church 7:30-8:45 P.M. North Central at Fifth Medford London 1P Queen Eliza beth and Prince Philip observed their 10th wedding anniver sary today and enjoyed the lux ury of staying home for a change. The royal couple, usually on a hectic whirl of social, civic or diplomatic functions, reserved today just for themselves and possibly the family and a few friends. There was no prearranged re ception, no official salute or flag flying. Just a day at home in Buckingham palace. Palace sources said Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother might join the royal couple and Princess Anne for a family din ner party. Prince Charles, away at Cheam Boarding school, was not brought home for the occasion. Is That So? By EUGENE BURNS Ranger-Naturalist For a change let's talk about the most fascinating creature in the world. You, yourself. Ever look at a stranger across the aisle on a streetcar and say to yourself: "He looks mighty sad to me." Don't bank on it. Re searchers at the University of Colorado Medical center have found that two people looking m at the face of a third person are likely to interpret the expression differently. .The reason is that we tend to read our own emo tions into other people. Too often apparently we look into other people's faces and see our own feelings mirrored. Don't be surprised the next time you take a physical check up and your doctor says: "Now please weep into this container. We need a tear sample." According to Dr. Olive F. Erickson of the Stanford Medi cal school in a recent issue of Coronet, the ratio of the three chemical elements in tears changes with the patient's health and emotions. Tears from an un dernourished person differ from one ill from rheumatic fever. Dr. Erickson thinks tear analy sis may become a routine diag nostic tool. Don't Blame Age If you've slowed down in ath letics in middle age, don't blame your age. Blame your sheer lazi ness. Anyway, that's the word I get from Dr. Laurence E. More house of the University of Cali fornia, based on the studies of men wljo continued an active physical life into their 80's. Even in the 80's, he says, men can perform physical feats as well as fellows in their late 20's. He adds: "If you make sports a balanced part of your life, there's only a slight deteriora tion through the years in both strength and speed and it's so slight it only shows up in cham pionship performances. "A man forty today can look forward to forty more years of active participation in athletics," he states. Worried about losing your hair? Dr. M. Wharton Young of Howard University has found that muscle is found under the hairy area of the scalp and none under the bald zone. How do you develop muscles under your scalp under the balding spot? Unfortunately, the doctor left thi3 one unanswered.
