The event was held at Rogue Valley Coun try club, which was decorated with fall fruits, foliage and flowers. Pictured above are (left to right) Scott V. Davis, Mrs. Martin Sands, Mr. Sands and Mrs. Davis, two of the host couples. Mrs. Sands fashioned the arrangement using fruits and vegetables in yellow and" purple tones, the color scheme for the party. 1ft? ty mp ntX Among the hosts for a dinner party at Rogue Valley Country club last Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fairweather. Dinner table decorations were small bunches of purple grapes and yellow chrysanthemums. Among the guests at a dinner given last Saturday evening at Rogue Valley Country club were Mr. and Mrs. Armin Richter (seated), Applegaie residents. The Richters are shown with their hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Lester, Adams, who also live in the Applegate area of Jackson county. Mrs. Adams designed a wall decoration for the party of yellow balloons and autumn foliage arranged to resemble an enormous bunch of grapes. Lady Lions Seek Toys The Christmas toy project. sponsored each year by Medford Lady Lions in cooperation with the Medford Fire department, was discussed at a meeting of the women's group Tuesday eve ning. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Clyde Webb, 915 Reddy avenue. Mrs. H. M. Christofferson, president of the club, asks that anyone who has dolls which are in good conditgn and toys which may be repaired to call SPring 2-6825, or leave them at the main fire station down town. . The women also wrapped Christmas v presents for teen agers. The budget for the year, pre sented by Mrs. Kenneth Camp bell, chairman and her commit tee, Mesdames W. B. Dziarmasa, J. A. Tomjack and T. R. Es linger, was accepted. Refreshments were served by the hostess and her committee, Mrs. Louis Ruhl and Mrs. Earl Courtney. Couple Honored On Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Fred C. Paulsen, 516 Fairmont street, were hon ored at a dinner October 22 in honor of their 58th wedding an niversary. The dinner was given by Mr. and Mrs. F. Gleason Crowell. The Paulsens were married in Cando, N. D. in 1899 and moved to Medford in 1948. They have two children, Mrs. Jeanette Shively of Bozeman, Mont., and Albert Paulsen, Los Angeles, Calif. Richard Paynes Home From Trip LTr. and Mrs. Richard. Payne have returned home after a mo tor vacation trip south. T h-e Faynes visited Reno, Las Ve gas and Virginia City, Nev., and thf p continued on to' Death Val uy. Lake Tuhoe and Boulder Dam. In holiday-traveling pas- 'e.s Nile Queen Coming Here Supreme Queen Gladys W. Chapman, San Antonio, Tex., will make her official visit to Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile, November .16. A cere monial honoring the queen will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, No vember 16 in Lincoln school, 1132, NJE. Tenth St., Grants Pass. Mrs. Stanley Stark, who is in charge of the annnual Thanks giving box for the Shrine hos pital in Portland, asks all Daughters of the Nile to leave their gifts at Week's and Orr store, 114 West Main street any time from Friday, November 15 through Thursday, November 21. The hospital especially needs canned fruits, vegetables, jams, jellies and cheese, she states. All home canned goods must have screw lids for shipping purposes. It is suggested that members might go together and purchase large size canned foods to simpli fy shipping, or may leave cash donations to purchase the food. Club Announces Dinner, Dance Plans for a dinner dance were made at a meeting of Medford Sojourners' club Thursday after noon at Girls Community club. Mrs. Floyd Robertson presided. The dance will be held De cember 7 at the Elks' club in Ashland; the chicken menu will be served family style. Reserva tions may be made with Mrs. C. T. Neilson, SPring 2-6994, or Mrs. Donald Walters, SPring 3-2590. Reservations are to be made no later than December 3. Fifty-six members played cards during the afternoon. Win ners at brideg were Mrs. J. S. Winslow and Mrs. M. H. Par sons; at pinochle, Mrs. Mabel E. Wright and Mrs. Robert ODay; at canasta, Mrs. Clarence Staley and Mrs. Thomas Reid. A spe cial prize went to Mrs. Gene Chamberlain. New members who were wel comed and joined in the games were Mrs. Robert O'Day, Mrs. Charles Neilson, Mrs. G. A. Branlund and Mrs. John Asp lund. The tea was given at the home of Mrs. Clinton Neeley, 1708 Stratford Way, November 3. The table was centered with an arrangement of yellow rose buds and pale yellow tapers. Pouring were Mrs. C. Rease Braley and Alpha Beta's direc tor, Mrs. Thomas Cardona. Mrs. John Holmes was in charge of the event, with Mrs. Robert Vincent, Mrs. Neeley and Mrs. Tom Shoop assisting. Host ess was Mrs. Neeley. and Mrs. John Holmes acted as co-hostess. The pledges were reminded of the ritual to be held at the Med ford hotel November 12, and were invited, with their hus bands, to a get acquainted party November 16. Two Initiated Initiation of two new mem bers was held Thursday evening ' for Ku Phi Mu of Beta Sigma Phi at the home of Miss Lillian ! Lewis, 714 Pennsylvania ave- ; nue. Initiated were Miss Diana Bowlin and Miss June Couey. Transferring from a California chapter was Miss Dixie Dixon. Hicks will speak on "Civil Defense" at the Monday, November 11, meet ing of Jackson county Retired Teachers association at the home of Mrs. Glenn Taylor, 1334 Red dy avenue, Medford, at 1:30 p.m. Clarence Smith will sing at the meeting, accompanied by John Lusk. Following the pro gram a tea will be served with Miss Jane Snedicor, Mrs. Ivah Murray and Mrs. Edna Trent as hostesses. Mrs. Charles Coggins To Be Club Hostess The November meeting of Adarel Past Matrons' club will be held at the home of Mrs. Charles E. Coggins, 1329 Beek man avenue, Medford, on Mon day, November 11. Barnes, 2210 Hillcrest road Wednesday, November 13, at 7:30 p.m. Parkers Observe 61st Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Parker, 307 Vancouver avenue, were honored Sunday, October 27, by an open house at their residence in honor of their 61st wedding anniversary. The reception was held byMr. and Mrs. Chester Parker, 4005 South Pacific high way, a brother of Mr. Parker, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stinson, friends of the couple. Mr. and Mrs. Parker were married October 28, 1896. Mr. Parker, who is 93 years old, moved to Medford in 1888, and has been a farmer for 42 years. The couple have two sons, Rol land Parker, Roseburg, and Ir vin Parker, Medford, two grand children, and two great-grandchildren. Chrysanthemums decorated the room for the reception at tended by 27 friends and neigh bors. Mrs. Parker was presented a rosebud corsage for the occa Nevita OES Chapter To Meet on Tuesday Central Point Nevita chap ter. Order of the Eastern Star, will meet Tuesday, November 12, at 8 p.m. in the Masonic temple, Central Point. Plans for the rummage sale to be held Nov. 16 will be discussed, and plans made 'for the next social club meeting. Medford Students In Cast of Play Eugene James L. Thomas, whose borne is at Route 1, Box 470A, Medford is playing the part of Sergeant Gregovich in the current University Theatre production, "Teahouse of 4he August Moon." He is a senior, majoring in journalism. Conrad Holzgang, son of Mr. and Mrs. George V. Holzgang, 626 Park avenue, plays the part of Mr. Sumata, resident of a small Okinawan village being taken over by the U. S. Army. Mr. Holzgang also is a senior, majoring in business adminis tration.
