Field Trip
Increasing interest in collec
tion and identification of differ
ent varieties of mushrooms to
be found in this area is evident
in the increased frequency of
field trips being made by the
Southern Oregon Mushroom
club this year.
The second trip in three
week's time is announced for
Sunday, November 10, and will
be made in the Cobleigh road
area towards Butte Falls.
"There are several unusually
delicious varieties of mushrooms
to be found this time of year in
the woods and meadows," states
Fred Lawrence, of the club.
'.'According to Dr. Alexander H.
Smith, professor of Mycology at
the University of Michigan, op
portunities are practically limit
less in finding choice mush-
i rnnms nf pvprv tvne and flavor
throughout western Oregon.
"Millions of these tasty deli
cacies go to waste yearly
through the inability of most
persons to recognize the edible
species that grow so plentifully
here."
Anyone interested in joining
the group for Sunday's trip is
asked to call Mr. Lawrence,
SPring 2-7676. The group will
meet at the Lawrence home,
1422 Euclid avenue, at 9 a.m.
