Founders' Day Tea Planned League of Women Voters Medford League of Women Voters wilj 'honor its founders and past presidents Saturday, November 9, with a tea from 3 to 4:30 p.m. in the Red Cross building on Hawthorne avenue. The event also is planned to acquaint new members and other interested woen with the program of the league, accord ingto Mrs. Hugh Collins, presi dent. Members of the board will greet those at tending and all members will be happy to discuss the activi ties of the group with all per sons interested, she added. Hopkins-Johnson Rites Held in California 'Church A wedding of interest to Med ford residents was held at First Methodist church, Yreka, Calif., Sunday, October 27, when Miss Karen Adele Johnson of that city became the bride of Harry Elmer Hopkins. The Rv. Harold E. Coleman officiated at the double ring ceremony held at four o'clock in the afternoon. The bride is the owner and teacher of Karen Adele's dance studios in Yreka and Weed and taught at Miss Pat's Dance stu dio, Medford a few years ago. She toured Europe with Mrs. Clifford Aldrigh (Miss Pat) in 1955 and is a member of Dance Masters of America and Na tional association of Dancers and Affiliated Artists. She attended Yreka public schools, San Fran cisco School of Ballet and Mc Lane's Dance studio, San Fran cisco, and Crockett's Dance stu dia in Sacramento. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ernest T. John son of Yreka. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Harry E. Hopkins of North Eastham, Mass., and the late Mr. Hopkins. He has been making his home in Yreka while em ployed as a forester with the United States Forest Service on the Klamath national forest. He is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and Yale uni versity. The church was decorated with large chrysanthemums for the wedding and a single red rose and lily of the valley tied with white satin bows marked the pew ends. More than 500 guests attended. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a white Chantilly lace and tulle gown over satin fashioned with fittedi bodice embroidered with seed pearls and iridescent sequins. The full length lace train was edged with a tulle ruffle and her fingertip length veil of illusion net edged with matching lace was held by a seed pearl crown. Her jewelry was gold. She car ried a bouquet of redoroses and gardenias which cascaded from a handmade white lace fan, which the bride brought from Belgium Mrs. Gordon Foletta of El Cerrito, Calif., was matron of honor for her sister. Other at tendants were Miss Gayle Bandy, Redding, Miss Marcia Isaacs, Medford, and Mrs. Rob ert Scharf, Yreka. They wore red chiffon velvet frocks with full skirts with matching ban deau studded with pearls. Their red satin pumps matched the dresses. Miss Shirley Renning, Weed, and Miss Cheri Aldrich, Med ford, were junior bridesmaids. They wore red chiffon velvet dresses with matching bandeau and white ballerina slippers ac cented with pearls. All of the at tendants carried cascade bou quets of white Fuji chrysanthe mums. Miss LaWana Trinca, Hilts, was candlelighter. She was dressed as the junior brides maids and wore a wristlet of white carnations. Little Marcia Slack, Grants Pass, cousin of the bride also wore a red velvet frock with a white lace hat trimmed with red flowers. She carried a white satin basket and scattered red rose petals. Three year old Bobby Slack, also Grants Pass, was ring bearer. John Spencer, Yreka, served as best man while Robert Cope, Big Creek. Robert Scharf, Yre ka, John Murray, Yreka, Orville Renning, Weed, and Gordon Fo letja, El Cerrito, seated the guests. Miss Judy Moore played the organ music and Capt. Richard Rust, Yreka, was soloist. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Johnson chose a turquoise lace dress with red velvet hat and black accessories. Her gar denia corsage was encircled with red roses. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the Yreka Inn. Assisting with the serving were Mrs. Jerome Ullian, Grants Pass, Mrs. Irene Willenbrink, Yreka, Mrs. Clifford Aldrich, Medford, and Mrs. Orville Ren ning, Weed. Miss Susan Harris, Yreka, was in charge of the guest book. Miss Sharon Dep pen, Etna, Calif., and Misses Nellie and Nancy Wyatt, cousins of the bride, passed the bride groom's cake and packages of rice. The newlywed couple are making their home at 667 West Miner street, Yreka, after a wed ding trip to southern California. For her traveling attire the bride wore a black and white faille suit and pink feather hat and black patent accessories. Her corsage was of pink roses and a gardenia. Among the out-of-town guests attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Beach, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Aldrich, and Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Isaacs, all Medford. Medford Jaycettes To Hold Ceremony Medford Jaycettes will hold installation of officers Wednes day, November 6 at 8 p.m. at Mon Desir dining inn, Central Point. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mallams are shown- cutting th cake served at a family dinner Oc tober 30 in observance of their silver wedding anniversary. The Mallams have lived here for 23 years. Couple Observes 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mallams, 1013 West Twelfth street, ob served their 25th wedding an niversary Wednesday, October 30, at a family dinner at home. Their children are Donna, Ger ald, Duane and Tommy Mallams. Mr. and Mrs. Mallams were married in Wisner, Neb., in 1932, and have lived in Medford for the past 23 years. The family at tends St. Peter Evangelical Lu theran church. 4 Manager Returns From California Ashland William Patton, business manager of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival associ ation, has returned to The Rogue valley after spending sev eral days in San Francisco on festival business. He reports that he saw a performance of "The Potting Shed" at the Marine Me morial theater in which Robert Simonds plays the lead. Mr. Simonds played Polonius in the festival's last production of "Hamlet." "The Potting Shed," a British play whic! r.ad a successful Broadway ruw, is drawing such large audiences in San Francisco that the season has been extended for six weeks, Mr. Patton reported. While in California Mr. Pat ton was invited to spend the week end at "The Family Farm"' a 67-acre retreat frequented by many actors and musicians of the Bay area and from which women are entirely excluded. The "farm" was closing for the winter months and in celebra tion a program called 4'Italian Night" was staged, with Italian opera, street songs and play ex cerpts featured.
