I TEN MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Thursday, October 31. 1957 Suit Filed in Court Seeking $4,500 Mrs. Leona A. Scott, Los An geles, Calif., is seeking S4.500 plus six per cent interest from Arthur G. Elliott. Grants Pass, according to a suit now on file in the Jackson county clerk's office. The annual interest is to be paid from Sept. 11, 1956, until all of the S4:500 is received, ac cording to the complaint. Elliott was given power of at torney of about 51 shares of com mon stock In Sequin, Inc., on May 22, 1956 by the plaintiff, according to the complaint. The Sequin then owned and operated a night club under the name of Stan's Y club at 1909 North Pa cific highway. Acting in his capacity as pow er of attorney, Elliott, with other stockholders of Sequin, In., sold all outstanding capital stock, in cluding Mrs. Scott's to Ira S. Hall, Dean Wooley and Donald Adams, the complaint shows. To tal purchase price was S9.000 of which S4,500 was received for the plaintiffs 51 shares of stock, it is alleged in the com plaint. The complaint states further that Elliott refused to pay 54,500 to Mrs. Scott upon request. Use Mail Tribune Classified Ads The Low Cost Way to Sell New York W Dr. Richard C. Hubley, 31, leader of a four man party of scientists en camped for the winter on Mc Call Glacier in the Brooks Range of Alaska, died of appar ent exposure Monday, according to word received here. Mrs. Christensen Named Chairman of AFS Group in Area Mrs. Holger Christensen of Medford has been named general chairman of the American Field Service international scholar ships committee, according to an announcement by AFS area rep resentative, Mrs. Doris Dicken son, of Yreka, Calif. Mrs. Christensen will coordi nate activities of the AFS in this area and supervise the foreign student program. She will also work with school officials and community groups in selection of a boy or girl to take part in the "summer program" of local students who spend two months with families overseas. Other members named to the committee include finance, Wel- don Kline; home placement, Mrs. Frank Bash: school liaison, Leon ard Mayfield; summer program and projects, Les Harris and David Frohnmayer; publicity, Russ Jamison. Studying in U.S. Mrs. Christensen noted that under the AFS program 1,039 foreign students representing 29 different countries are studying in the United States this year. In addition, this past summer, 743 American boys and girls were able to spend the summer abroad. The Medford Rotary club has sponsored a foreign student for the past two years and sent one local student abroad last sum mer, Mrs. Christensen reported. She added that the committee would like to see the program expanded in this area and is anxious to contact groups or clubs who are interested in spon soring a student. Maloney conspiracy case was ready for submission to the jury today after instructions by Cir cuit Judge Martin Hawkins. Closing arguments were com pleted Wednesday, and Judge Hawkins told the jury; "This case will be submitted to you in the morning." Maloney is accused of conspir ing in 1935 and the early part of 1956 with William M. Lang ley, then district attorney, and Joseph P. McLaughlin, Seattle cardroorn operator, in an alleged plot to control gambling in Portland. London ftp Russia today claimed a world record for a new helicopter which is said to be capable of carrying up to 80 persons. Moscow Radio said theh elicopter, described as the first to be powered by two turbo rotor engines, carried a record payload of 26.463 pounds to an altitude of 7.870 feet.
