Heuberger Hopes for Shorter Bridge Toll Portland V Sen. Richard ;t Neuberger (D.-Ore.) said Mon ity he had hopes the new Inter est te bridge across the Colum- t river between Portland and j "Vancouver. Wash., could be fi- i Ttnced without the imposition gf tolls over a long period. He said "It has always been ' th intent of Congress to equita- j bly reimburse states for any j portion of highway which they build for the Interstate system.'' ; He said the bridge project had . been included in a study of state i financed units by the Public Roads administration. i Since we have been able to have the Interstate bridge in cluded in the study," he said, "there are hopeful indications that the bridge may be operated Without the imposition of tolls over a lengthy period." Members of the Senate public roads subcommittee, of which Neuberger is a member, will be in Portland in mid-December.
