McLoughlin PTA Names Committees Committee chairmen for Mc Loughlin Parent-Teacher associ ation were announced during a recent meeting of the executive board held in the library of the school. Mrs. John Schroeder is president of the association this year and officers serving with her are Mrs. Roy Elmgren, vice president, Mrs. Naomi Van Dyke, secretary, and Robert Hinman, treasurer. Committee heads appointed by Mrs. Schoeder are hospitality, Mrs. William Russell and Mrs. Jim Stephenson; membership, Mrs. Maurice Ritchey and Mrs. Harold Gangstee; magazine, Mrs. Bill Rambo and Mrs. L. S. Wilkinson; publicity, Mrs. Ro land Holmes; welfare, Mrs. John Connolly; ways and means, Mrs. Rex Nicodemus and Mrs. Dan Kadin; legislation, Mrs. Fred Underwood; historian, Mrs. R. P. Knights; program, Mrs. Roy Elmgren and Sharon Eichelber ger; parliamentarian, Mrs. Al fred Mercer; parent education, Mrs. Georgia Ruhl, Mrs. Jack White and Mrs. Roland Holmes; room representatives, Mrs. John Hartsook and Mrs. Russell Mitch ell; room chairmen, seventh grade, Mrs. L. A. Nash; eighth grade, Mrs. Ivan Ekberg; ninth grade, Mrs. Fred Lyon. Delegates to Medford Coord inating council are Mrs. Frank Van Pelt and Mrs. S. J. Fagone. Results from a questionnaire sent out recently to all parents of McLoughlin Junior High school students indicated favor able response in program plan ning and the program commit tee is endeavoring to plan the programs for the years around the results of the questionnaire, Mrs. Schroeder stated. A baked food sale will be held in conjunction with open house at the school in Novem ber. Mrs.' Ruhl, study group chair man, told board members that there was a good response on j the questionnaires for the or-1 ganizing of a study group and ! that she would meet with her j committee soon to make plans j for the first meeting. First meeting of the associa- j tion will be Thursday, October 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the school. The program for the meeting will be announced next week. Laurel Club Elects Meeting Delegates Rogue River Mrs. Esther ; Shock and Mrs. Henry Bonney ill be delegates from Laurel Grden club for the annual fall convention of Siskiyou district, Oregon Federation of Garden elubs. The meeting will be held October 29 at Fruitdale Grange hall. The women were selected at the last meeting of Laurel club. held at the country home of j Mrs. Andrew Guffin on East Evans creek road. The club voted to be hostess for the, spring district conven tion. Mrs. Shock talked on iris, and showed slides. Mrs. Clara Martin, a visitor, joined the club. Mrs. William White, president, conducted the meeting and refreshments were served by Mrs. Guffin and Mrs. White. A group of young people of the Church of the Nazarene held a party at the horee of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyde Moore. Games were played and refreshments served. Mrs. Bastiani was hostess at a birthday party Oct. 2 honor ing her daughter, Mary Sue, who was seven. Kim McKillop underwent a tonsillectomy recently. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Burge and children have been spend ing the past week in Portland. They were accompanied by Rus sell's mother, his brother and sister-in-law who had been spending a week at the Burge home at Cascade Gorge. Mrs. Charley Reeves of Cas cade Gorge spent last Friday in Central Point at the home of her mother. Miss Sharon Wilde, graduate of Prospect High school who is serving as a missionary for the Churcl of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at Guatemala, recent ly underwent an emergency op eration for appendicitis, and is now down with the flu. Dennis Mattiesen, who is con fined to the Shrine hospital in Portland, underwent surgery during the past week. Mrs. Bob Colver, who has been living at Ketchikan, Alas- Crash of Jet Bomber Under Investigation Orlando, Fla. IP A board of officers today sought the cause of a crash of a six-jet bomber 1 Wednesday that killed four air men, including a Royal Air Force officer. Brig. Gen. Paul S. Emerick, commander of the Sixth Air Di-: vision at MacDill Air Force Base at Tampa, headed the investi gation of the inflight explosion of a B47 stratojet bomber which smashed into a pasture some seven miles northwest of here, killing all those aboard. Witnesses said the aircraft, on a routine training flight out of nearby Pinecastle Air Force Base was headed for Orlando but veered 180 degrees off course seconds before the explosion oc curred over a raceway off U.S. 44. ka, arrived here Sunday with her children to visit relatives j and friends.
