CENTRAL POINT Sergeant Visiting Parents BY DORIS HUGHES Central Point Master Sgt. and Mrs. William C. Downing and daughters, Martha and Kar en, of Frankfort, Germany, are visiting at the home of Down ing's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn C. Downing. After visiting here, the Downings will go to Ft. Lewis, Wash., where he will be stationed. Dennis Kottke, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Kottke, of North Fourth st., left recently to at tend the San Jose Bible college in California. Dennis, who grad uated from Crater High school in 1957, has been appointed as sistant editor to the college pa per. He is also on the staff of the college annual. Tuesday afternoon, a meeting of the room mothers was held in the cafeteria at the Central Point Junior High school. Charles A. Meyer discussed plans for the "Back to School" pro gram, which will be held the evening of Oct. 22. The business meeting was led by Mrs. Dean Brandon, Pioom mothers were introduced. e Charles A. Meyer, principal of Central Point grade and jun ior high school, reported there are now 477 members in the PTA. The goal has been set for 600 members. Parents desiring to join may call Mrs. C. E. Chamberlain. LEGAL NOTICES RESOLUTION NO. 910 A RESOLUTION proposing to permit adjacent property to use a water main as a lateral water main: to levy an assessment on the property -fronting on the street wherein said water main is laid: setting a time and place for protests thereto and providing for notice thereot. WHEREAS the City of Medford has heretofore caused a water main in the Citv of Medford to be laid on Crater Lake Avenue from Saling Ave nue to Spring Street and the Council being of the opinion that said water main may be used by the property fronting on that portion of said main on Crater Lake Avenue from Saling Avenue to Spring Street in the City of Medford, Oregon, and WHEREAS said water main has not, as yet, been paid for and it appearing to the Council that the use of said water main as a lateral water main by said property last above mentioned will not materially interfere with the use thereof for the purpose for which it was originallv laid, now therefore. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUN CIL, OF THE CITY OF MEDFORD, OREGON Section 1. That it is the opinion of the Council that that part of the afore mentioned water ' main laid in the City of Medford described as follows, to-wit: As laid on Crater Lake Avenue from Saling Avenue to Spring Street in the City. of Medford. Oregon. May be use by the Drooertv front ing thereon as a lateral water main without materially interfering with the use thereof for the purpose of a water main, the purpose for which it was originally laid, and the Council proposes to permit the owners of ad jacent property to use the same for lateral purposes as atoresaid. Section 2. It is the intention of the Council to assess the property fronting on the street wherein said water main is laid as hereinbefore last described its proportionate share of so much of the cost thereof as equals the special benefit which will result to said prop erty from the use of said water main as a lateral water main of such size as would be required to supply the property fronting on said street in case said water main was not so used and the Council has and does hereby de termine that the sum of S2.35 per front foot is the amount of such spe cial benefit and the proportionate cost of such a lateral water main to such property as aforesaid and intends to ' assess said amount against such adja cent property on account thereof. Section 3. The Council will meet at the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M.. at the Council Chamber in the City Hall on the 17th day of October. 1957, at which time and place all protests of said assessment, as hereinbefore pro vided for, will be heard. Section 4. The Recorder is hereby directed to serve notice hereof upon the property owners aforesaid by pub lishing this resolution 3 times in a newspaper published and of general circulation in said City and by posting the same in 5 public places in said City; said publication and said posting to be not less than 10 days before the date of said meeting. The Rev. and Mrs. Leroy Green and baby, Caroline Jo, of the Belgian Congo, Africa, are visiting at the home of Mr. Green's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Green, of Ross lane. The Greens are former Central Point residents. Mrs. Richard Wyatt and chil dren, Stephen and Paul, went to Hornbrook and Yreka Saturday. Mrs. Edward Higinbotham and Te'ephone Employees Offered Flu Vaccine Immunization shots against Asian flu were offered employ ees of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company in Medford and Ashland Tuesday and Wed nesday, J. H. Creager, Medford manager, said yesterday. The shots were offered on a free voluntary basis. Employees in all parts of the state are being offered the shots as part of the company's pro gram to assure that communica tions service will not be cur tailed should there be a major epidemic in Oregon, he said. Thursday, October 3, 1937 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE NINE Wilmer Higinbotham returned recently from a plane trip tour of the western states. They went as far east as Denver, Colo. The Rev. and Mrs. Ronnie Cla sen and son recently moved from Seattle to Grannit Falls, Wash., where Mr. Clason accept ed a pastorship. Mrs. Clasen is the former Donna Rainey of Central Point. Dinner guests at the Richard Wyatt home Friday evening were the Rev. and Mrs. Leroy Green. The Greens, who are mis sionaries to the Belgian Congo, Africa, are here on furlough. Mrs. Wyatt and Mrs. Green at tended the Community church missionary meeting Friday eve ning. Mrs. Green showed pic tures and lectured on "Mission ary work in the Belgian Congo.'
