assess said amount against such adja

Section 3. The Council will meet at
the hour of 7:30 o'clock P.M. at the
Council Chamber in the City Hall on
the l(th day of October. 1957, at
which time and place all protests of

vided for, will be heard
Section 4. The Recorder is herebv
directed to serve notice hereof upon
the property owners aforesaid by pub
lishing this resolution 3 times in a
newspaper published and of general
circulation in said City and by posting
the same in 5 public places in said

to be not less than 19 days before the
date of said meeting

Man Receives

Prospect Bud Gillespie, an
employee of the State Forestry
Department, in Prospect was in
jured recently when an axe he
was using to hop wood slipped,
cutting his foot. The wound re
quired medical attention.
David Bliss returned to Pros
pect Saturday with a black bear
that he killed on Mt. Stella.
Miss Bonnie Bliss, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bliss of
Prospect, fell at her home re
cently, receiving a large cut on
her leg. She was treated at the
Shady Cove clinic.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvel Tracer
and daughter, Vikie, of Ft. Dick
Calif., visiter in Prospect with
friends and relatives over the
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Vance Wilson

Damage Blamed
On Penny Pinching
Naha, Olinawa (W Penny
pinching may have cost the U. S.
Air Force up to $3 million in
damage from typhoon JTaye the
150 mile an hour blast'that rip
per Okinawa for six hours Thurs
day. Reports from the island's two
huge air bases at Naha and Ka
dena indicate reluctance to spend
money necessary to button up
against the typhoon and a deci
sion not to fly aircraft to safer
fields to save fuel expenditure
were at least partly responsible
for the loss of nearly 30 aircraft.
The Air Force has refused to
give a damage estimate while
"a board of investigation" order
ed by Lt. Gen. Fred erick H.
Smith Jr., Fifth Air Force com
mander, sought to place the
blame for the costly foul-up.
The only Air Force comment so
far was the admission that "con
siderable damage" was done to
aircraft and installations.
Faye's winds piled up 15 air
craft at Naha and more than 10
at Kadena. One huge transport
carrying 60,000 pounds of ma
terial was tipped over and light
er planes were banged into each
other due to failure to secure
them fully.
Cork, Portugal's chief export,

the tree. Portuguese law permits
the stripping a tree once every
nine years.
