Penitent Thief Eases Conscience oh Plan East Paterson, N.J. OP" A penitent thief is easing his con science on the installment plan. Patrolmen John Petruchko wich found S5 and an unsigned note addressed to the victim, a resident of Saddle Brook. The note said: "Dear Sir, I am sorry I have taken the money at St. Leo's Roman Catholic church. I realize I was wrong. There is SI miss ing. I will try to return that also." Ray Barrows submitted his resigna tion because he is moving out side the city limite. The possibility of placing more lights in the city park for future use for picnics was discussed. Dave Schneider left Tuesday, Sept. 3, for Vallejo, Calif., where they will make their home. Schneider reports to duty aboard the USS Richard B. Anderson. They recently returned from a wedding trip to Yosemite park, Mt. Lassen park and Lake Tahoe. Mrs. Schneider is the former Alice Marie Wilson. Irving Kite of Sumner, Wash., arrived for the weekend of Aug. 31 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. Stahly. Returning home with his grandfather was Larry Stahly who has been visiting in Washington for the past two months. Kite returned to his home Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hoffman and son, Dusty, Mrs. Beryl Hickson and Doris went to Salem for the State Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Lockard from Medford met the Hicksons and Hoffmans at Salem. Howard and Elmer Fetly of Los Angeles, Calif., were Labor Day weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Copley. The Felly's are Mrs. Copley's brothers. Miss Nancy Rinebarger, Mrs. Elsie Turner, Mrs. Hazel Atkins, Mrs. Vera Selby all Eagle Point elementary teachers, and Mrs. Georgianna Beier of Medford spent the Labor Day weekend at the summer home of Mrs. Na dine Shaffer at the Lake of the Woods. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Martinson and sons, Ronnie and Richie, Ball rd., and Mr. and Mrs. Ben Hefley and children, Mark and Marty, of 228 B st., Eagle Point, went to Diamond lake over the Labor Day weekend. Weekend visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Short Labor Day were Mr. and Mrs. Cy Ireland and son, and Mr. and Mrs. John Short, of Crescent City, Calif. While in Eagle Point they visited Bill Short who was in the hospi tal. Bill returned to his home at 18 West Third St., Tuesday, SepHi 2. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Young, Mrs. Tom Shearin and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. H Young, form er residents of Eagle Point, and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Cordon and family of Medford, went to Port land Saturday, Aug. 31, to at tend the Young family reunion Sept. 1, in honor of Mrs. Lena Young, who is 92 years old. Mr. and Mrs. William E. Young and sons of Seattle and Tom Shearin, who is attending a bankers in stitute at the University of Wash ington for two weeks, met the Youngs. There were 52 relatives attending the reunion. The Tom Shearin family left Eagle Point Saturday, Sept. 7, to return to their home in Mesa, Ariz., after spending three weeks in the valley visiting friends and relatives. Dean Tibbits, who is working for the forest service, visited Mr. and Mrs. Stan Smith, former Eagle Point residents living in Baker. Tibbits will be home to visit his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay H. Tibbits, and friends before entering college this fall. Word has been received here that a four pound, 11 ounce baby girl, Sue Ellen, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Don Barnes, former Eagle Point residents, in a Baker hospital Sept. 3. Barnes, a form er Eagle Point High school teach er, is principal at the Baker High school. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Fischbach are new residents in Eagle Point, residing at 514 South B st. He is employed at the Cascade Woods Products. The Eagle Point Nursery school opened Monday at 103J2 B st., near the Eagle Point Com munity Bible church. The hours are from 9 to 11:30 a.m. with Mrs. Edna Cunningham as instructor. Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Holmes and children, Carolyn, Frances and Billy, were dinner guests at the Lester McFall home Sept. 3. The Holmes are moving to Med ford this weekend. Carol Wyatt of Central Point who was confined "to the Rogue Valley hospital for surgery of appendectomy Sept. 3, was re leased Sept. 6. Miss Wyatt is a former resident of Eagle Point. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brugger and nephew, Paul, and nieces, Shirley and Audrey Coleman, went to Albany over the Labor Day weekend to visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Cheever. They also went to Salem to attend the State Fair. Accompanying them home was there daughter, Barbara, who has been visiting her aunt. The boys at Nellis must have been reading Webster who describes "Queen Bee" as "perfect female." West Coast Airlines To Get Prop jets Soon West Coast airlines serving cent with the new planes. Medford will soon be using Fair- Passenger, mail and freight child F-27 prop jet airliners inj addition to the 14 DC-3s now in service. West Coast is the first airline in line for delivery of the new style propjet airliners. Six are scheduled for delivery to WCA some time between March and October 1958. Southwest air lines, which also serves Med ford, expects delivery of three propjet planes in September, 1958. The plane is the first projet of a short and medium haul ability. Both airlines plan to cut. station to station times 40 per loads will be doubled, airline officials said. RED PAPER BOMBED Paris (If) A tear gas bomb was thrown into the offices of the Communist party newspaper L'Humanite Monday night. No one was injured and damage was light. 1hn Mrs. Frances Hornbuckle, who celebrated her 74th birthday. Mrs. Hornbuckle's son, daughter, grandchildren and great grand children attended. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bitierling and Jean attended the State Fair in Salem. Mr. and Mrs. Lenn Hickman and family went to Olympia, Wash., to visit Mrs. Hickman's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Smith and family. Returning home with the Hick mans was Mrs. Hickman's fath er, Roy Smith, who has been visiting his son. The Griffins went to Tacoma, Wash., where they visited the Sam Edwards family Sunday, Sept. 1. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Griffin returned home Monday, Sept. 2. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hannaford and family moved from the Lazy L ranch to the property adjoin ing their property on the Butte Falls highway until they can re build their home that was des troyed by fire sometime ago.
