The owner had it marked at $10 just because he felt it worth that much on account of the amusement it had given him. He felt he could afford to sell it pages. "This is an old-time button mold," Tom said. "Probably of about 1750; maybe earlier. He pressed his thumbs down hard on what appeared to be a crack in the top of the iron. The specially designed steed holds one-to-five year olds as they sit for chest x-rays at the Army's Walter Reed Medical Center. Designed by MSgt. Russell Rankin and built by Clifton Reintzel of the Army's Service and Supply division, the x-ray steed is more luxuriously sad dled than the mounts in west ern horse operas.. A lead shield is placed in the back of the saddle to protect the youngsters' pelvic organs, and an adaptation of a film holder is attached to the side to simplify taking lateral views of the chest. Children gladly pose astride the non-galloping mount, an achievement with the squirmy-age- group. Col. Elmer Lodmell, chief of the hospital's radiological serv ice, has given the steed his en thusiastic endorsement, and more models are to be construct ed for use throughout the medi cal center.
