o Local and Car Damaged A car owned by Chester Herbert Merriman, 210 South Keen way dr., has a broken window following at tempts by someone to gain en trance to his car Wednesday eve ning. The car was parked in the alley behind Fiynn Electric company, according to police re ports. Return Home Mr. and Mrs. Harve Strahm, former owners of the Rainbow Gardens on South Pacific highway, recently re turned from a two and one-half month vacation trip with their five children. The Strahms vis ited relatives in Colorado, Kan sas, Arizona and California dur ing the trip. They now live at Harbor. Return C. B. Cordy, county horticulture agent, and F. C. Beimer. former superintendent of the Southern Oregon Experi ment station, have returned from a three-day meeting of the American Institute of Biological Sciences at Stanford university. While at the California confer ence Cordy attended the horti culture sessions. Girl Born Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ellis, Arlington, Va., are parents of a girl, Alieen Ranaee, born Aug. 28, weigh ing 6Vi pounds. They have one other child, a boy, one year old. Paternal grandparents of the children are Mr. and Mrs. Byron Ellis, 820 Crater Lake ave. Rich ard graduated from Medford high school in 1945 and is now in civil service work. Riverside Accident A car driven by Richard James Swin ney, 1478 Spring St., was in volved in an accident with one j driven by William Ira Luman, 630 Oakdale St., Thursday noon, according to police reports. Curtain time for all plays is 8:30 p.m. Former Presidential Valet Found Dead Portland' IW Henry Perry, about 90 years old, former valet for President Grover Cleveland, was found dead in his home here Thursday. - He apparently had died about two days ago. Deputy Coroner Anthony Wald said papers found in Perry's home indicated he may have served other presidents during his stay in the White House. He also had worked as a waiter in the old Portland hotel and his rooms were filled with signed photos and testimonials from celebrities he had served. Wald said Perry also left a coin collection that was one of the most extensive the coroner had ever seen. New Cabinets The city has recently added several new file cabinets in the city hall. They will help to rid the city of some of its storage problems accord ing to officials. . The council said that despite heavier traffic, the July, 1957. traffic death toll was 3.320 as compared with a toll of 3,570 during July of 1956. "Thus, 250 lives were saved," the council said. : " For the ' first seven months, the council reported, the traffic toll was down an average of 3 per cent or a saving of 650 lives. . .
