Beavers 13-5 With
Eight Runs in Eighth

playing desperate baseball in or
der to stay in contention for the
PacUic Coast league pennant,
unleashed a flash flood of runs
..against Portland Thursday night
that should give the Beavers
eighth-inning shudders for some
time to come.
Luis Marquez hit a two run
- homer for Portland in the sev
enth frame to tie up the impor
tant game 5-5. At that moment it
looked like the Beavers just
might pull it off. But about five
minutes later the roof fell in.

Then the rest of the Mounties
pitched in to add four more tal
lies and run the score to 13-5
where it stayed until the game's

The roundtrippers tied a Coast

Oakland managed it against
Portland in 1952 and Salt Lake
did it to Vernon in 1923-.
