Ashland Accident Cars driv en by Robert Norris Johnson, 1940 Siskiyou blvd., Ashland, and Herman Pelton, Kennydale, Wash., were involved in an acci dent at the intersection of Park st. and highway 99 in Ashland about 5:30 p.m. yesterday accord ing to city police there. Mrs. Pelton, passenger in her hus band's 'car, received minor in juries but was not taken to a hospital. Fires Reported Patrolmen from the state department of forestry were dispatched yester day to extinguish fires thought to have started from trains. One was along the Medford corpora tion tracks near Eagle Point and two about two acres of grass were burned, patrolmen said. The other was along the South ern Pacific railroad right-of-way in the Neil creek area south of Ashland. About one-half acre in grass and sawdust at an old mill site was burned. Industrials were off a little more tha none-half of 1 per cent and rails showed a smaller de cline. Utilities, thanks to strength in one or two issues, managed to show a small net gain. Vehicles Collide Cars driven by Robert Berthold Edsall, 54, Ashland, and Douglas Arnold Harsh, 22, Central Point, col lided yesterday afternoon on the Table Rock market rd. at the junction with Hamrick rd., state police said this morning. No in juries were reported. The right front fenders and right sides of both cars were damaged. Edsall was cited for failure to operate his car on the right side of the highway, state police said. Edwards Brought Back On Bum Check Charge James W. Edwards, 60. Port land, was returned to Medford Wednesday from Oregon City by chief deputy Joe Walsh of the sheriffs office. Edwards is want ed in Jackson county on a charge of obtaining money by false pre tenses in Ashland in Dec, 1955. Edwards was recently released from Oregon State penitentiary and had received a suspended sentence on a previous charge in Oregon City. He was lodged in the county jail. WHITE Miss Gladys J. Mc Cracken is the new dietitian at the VA Domiciliary, succeeding Mrs. Helen L. Pearson who went to the VA hospital at Murfrees boro, Tenn. Miss McCracken comes to Camp White from the VA hospital at Perry Point, Maryland, with 28 years VA ex perience. She is a native of Greenville, Penn., and graduat ed from Carnegie Institute of Technology at Pittsburgh. Her other VA assignments were at Hines, 111., Roanoke, Va., Tem ple, Texas and Oteen, N. C. Holdener, of 2931 South Pacific highway, who died in Jackson ville Tuesday, will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic church, "with the Rev. William McLeod officiat ing. Interment will be in Siski you Memorial park. Casket bearers will be Martin Heitkamp, Helmut Trost, Pete Auer, Otto Pfahler and Xavier Widmer. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Chapel Mortuary. Mr. Holdener was born in Switzerland on Oct. 4, 1894. He came to the United States in 1925 and to the Rogue Valley eight years ago, where he has been engaged in farm work. He was not married. Survivors include one brother, Tony Holdener, in Switzerland; a nephew, Karl Luond, in San Francisco; and several nieces and nephews in Switzerland. JAMES VIRGIL WRIGHT James Virgil Wright, 89, 103 High st., Ashland, died in an Ashland nursing home last night following a seven-week illness. . Mr. Wright was born May 15, 1868 ate Sweet Home and has lived in Ashland since 1890. He was an elder emeritus at the First Christian Church of Ash land. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Ruth King, Holly, Ore., a son, Bert Wright, Ashland; two daughters, Mrs. John Payne, Corning, Calif., and Mrs. W. J. Burgoyne, Ashland; five grand children and four great grand children. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lit willer's Mountain View chapel in Ashland. He will be buried in Mountain View cemetery in Ash land. BERTHA A. WEINGART Services for Mrs. Bertha A. Weingart, of Millers Gulch, who died in a Medford hospital Sat urday, will be held at L. B. Hall funeral home, in Grants Pass, Friday at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Granite Hill cemetery, in Grants Pass. Conger-Morris funeral home is- in charge of local arrangements. The' deceased was born Sept. 3, 1899, in Madson, Wis., and had been a resident of southern Oregon for the past 15 years. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Bessie Arms, Great Falls, Mont.; four brothers, Iver Arms, Great Falls; Irvin Arms, in Ida ho; Ivan Arms, Publo, ' Colo.; and Ira Arms, Great Falls; a sister, Mrs. Bernice Wedrick, Las Veas,' Nev.; and a niece, Mrs. James Price, Great Falls. SARA S. HARDEN Mrs. Sara . Harden, 64, wife of the late Frank E. Harden, and a resident of Medford for 22 years, passed away at a local hospital early this morning. Mrs. Harden was born at At tumwa, Iowa on Jan., 7, 1893. Mrs. Harden was a clerk at Weeks and Orr Furniture store for 17 years, she and her hus band operated the drapery shop there. Lee, city water superinten dent. The 12-inch main on Crater Lake ave. was opened between Spring and Saling aves. This is the section of water pipe that contains the "100th mile' of water, main laid in the city of Medford two weeks ago.
