Robert D. Holmes. Mrs. Fuller came to Oregon in 1906 from Michigan and since then has gained an international reputation in the field of poetry. The new poet Laureate, now 74, becomes the second in the state's history to be designated by an Oregon governor. Ben Hur Lampman held the post for many years until his death Jan. 24, 1954. . With no official provisions for a poet laureate, the position has been vacant since that time though an unsuccessful attempt was made in the 1957 Legisla ture to create the office. Mr. Nunan was reported also as a member of the San Fran cisco Examiner staff for many years. He was considered one of the most versatile newspaper men in San Francisco's history, covering during his 40 years' service everything from police to water front beats, music and drama. He also wrote a poetry column. x Mr. Nunan's wife, Eula How ard Nunan, is a daughter of Eu dora Godfrey Howard who taught school in Jacksonville in the early days.
