The brother died two hours after being shot in the abdomen by the youth with a .22-caliber rifle at the Feyer farm home about two miles southeast of Molalla. Clackamas county deputy David Spear said the victim had been drinking, and the shooting was the result of an argument. Young Feyer said he was only trying to "frighten" his brother with the gun, and that he had not been aware it was loaded. The driver is Frank Burns, Fort Dodge commissioner of finance and public safety. Dallas Woman Killed In Two-Car Crash Dallas, Ore. HP Mrs. Bessie Elkins Abbott, 79, Dallas, was killed Sunday in a two-car col lision near here. Mrs. Abbott was in a car driv en by her daughter, Mrs. Edna McCleary when it was struck by another car driven by a teen-age boy. Another teen-ager was in the car at the time. An eyewitness said that Mrs. Cleary had made a complete stop at a corner and had started to make a left hand turn when the other car struck her car. The two teen-age boys and Mrs. McCleary were taken to a hospital where their condition was reported "not serious." Salem Boy Drowns In Creek Saturday Salem (W Charles Wagon er, 13, drowned in Mill creek Saturday evening after appar ently falling off the . bridge at 21st street near State street, east of the downtown area. Wagoner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Wagoner, Salem, and a companion, 16-year-old Leroy Miller, were on their way to the Wagoner boy's home, police said. A passerby, Larry Lee Karau, 17, Salem, leaped into the creek and attempted to rescue the youngster, but the boy slipped from his grasp while they were heading for shore. Police located the body short ly afterward. highest octane gasoline Portland Longshoreman Dies While Working Portland (IP) Charles Schafer, 58, Portland, a long shoreman, died Sunday while working at terminal No. 2, and the coroner's office indicated an inquest will be held to deter mine cause of death. Schafer collapsed on the pier, fell into the river, and struck his head on a log boom. Gun Found In Cell of Prisoner in Roseburg - Roseburg (W A gun was found in the cell of a prisoner in, the Douglas county jail Sat urday. It was found in the cell of Gary Lee Williams, 18, Fresno, Calif., by under-sheriff Carl Smith of Douglas county who was making a routine "shake down" of the jail. - The gun was a .22 calibre pistol filled with blanks. Wil liams, charged with burglary not in a dwelling, is being held in an isolation cell. He told Smith that he found the gun in the cell. Smith said that because of the incident, a new procedure will be started on "shaking down" prisoners before they are put in the cell. He did not elabo rate on what the new procedure would be.
