The bride is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Wil liam Stevenson. 230 Saginaw drive, and the bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Joseph E. Martin Natick, Mass., and the late Mr Martin. The Very Rev. Nicholas Deis officiated fdr the double-ring mass, held at 9:30 o'clock in the morning, and Dr. Stevenson escorted his daughter to the altar. Bruno Pellegrini played California Rites Of Interest Here . Two California weddings scheduled for the near future are of interest in Medford. The wedding of -Miss Linda Barbour of "La Mesa, Calif., to Ensign William M. McAllister is set for Friday, August 23, in First Presbyterian church, San Diego. The bride is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richmond Bar bour, La Mesa, and Ensign Mc Allister is a son of Justice and Mrs. William McAllister, long time v Medford residents who have made their home in Salem in recent months. Set for September 7 is the wedding of Miss Linda Towle of Palo Alto, Calif., to Blake Mad dox. son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Maddox, 340 South Grove land avenue, Medford. The cere mony will be held in the Epis copal church in Palo Alto, and several members of the bride groom's family from Medford will attend. The bridegroom-to-be was re cently honored at a buffet sup per given by his mother and Mrs. HT Chandler Drew at the latter's home on Delta Waters road. A group of his former schoolmates in Medford High school, attended the supper, planned as a surprise to the honor guest. Alumnae Club Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae club will meet Tuesday, August 20, at the home of Mrs. Robert W. Shepard, 132 Greenway circle. HOW ABOUT A NEW. The bride's gown was of chromespun taffeta fashioned princess style and worn with a small crown of pearls holding her fingertip length illusion veil. She carried a cascade of white roses and stephanotis. Miss Mary Stevenson was honor attendant for her sister and another sister. Miss Nancy Stevenson, was brides maid. Their identical bouffant frocks were of white silk organza with pastel blue insets over taffeta, and both wore small blue sequin head bands with blue shoulder length veils. Their bouquets were of white daisies. Thomas Austin was best man for the bridegroom, and ushers were Howard Gang, Medford, and Charles Goddard, Ashland. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Stevenson wore a frock of pink and grey tie silk with pink accessories and a pink rosebud corsage. The reception which followed the ceremony was held on the upper terrace of te Stevenson garden. Miss Mary Annette Rentz presided at the bride's table and Mrs. Robert DeVoe and Mrs. Gordon Williams poured punch. Serving at the buffet table were Mrs. Gordon Hudson and Mrs. John Jensen, and Mrs. Thomas Austin puored coffee. Mrs. Eugene Higgins took charge of the bride's book. Mr. and Mrs. Martin left in the afternoon for Yellowstone National park and after a week there will continue to their home in Natick. The bride is a graduate of Dominican college, San Fafael, Calif., and Southern Oregon college, Ashland. For two years she was on the fac ulty of St. Mary's school, Med ford, and last year taught in Reno, Nev. Mr. Martin is a graduate of Boston college in Massachusetts and Southern Oregon college, and is now member of the Eng lish department of the Massachu setts Board of Education. Miss Selby, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Selby, 2427 Ly man avenue, Medford, was hon ored at a shower given July 30 at Rogue Valley Country club by Mrs. Sam Gilbert, Mrs. Jack T. Walker, and Mrs. Ray Fris bie. Thirty guests attended the noon luncheon. Double miniature wedding bells marked each place and white baskets of white and pink astors and baby's breath decor ated the tables. White gladiolus decorated the room for the luncheon while the guest-of-honor's . place was marked by a bridal centerpiece. Pink astors decorated the lower part of the footed glass compote which eld baby pink rosebuds. August ' 7 Mrs. Harold Gor don honored the bride-elect with a shower at her home on South Oakdale avenue. Garden flow ers decorated the rooms for the shower attended by 15 guests. Mrs. Richard Knutson and Mrs. Eugene Mosser were host esses for a shower for Miss Sel by July 24 at the Knutson home on Bennett street. Fifteen friends of the bride-elect attend ed the evening gathering. Friday evening members of the wedding party were hon ored at a dinner and swim at the Ashland home of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Selby on Walker avenue, parents of John Selby. Approxi mately 26 attended. Insurance Women ' Attend Festival A two-day conference of mem bers of the National Association of Insurance Women from Wash ington and Oregon will close with a breakfast this morning at the Medford hotel at 9 a.m. Jackson County Insurance Wom en planned the sessions. About 90 persons are expected to at tend the breakfast. Delegates and guests attended a picnic in Lithia park last even ing at which William Patton, manager of the Oregon Shake spearean festival, was speaker. Later a group of 65 attended a performance of "As You Like It" in the festival theater. An after-theater party was held in the Candle room of the Medford hotel. The honored guest, a daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Davies of Eagle Point, will be married to William Oyler of Sacramento, Calif., Sept. 4 at First Methodist church, Med ford, at 8 o'clock in the evening. The ceremony was held at First Methodist church in Reno, Nev. The bride was a. graduate of Jacksonville High school in 1956 and Mr. Crenshaw is a graduate of Lebanon High school. Elder, Wife Honored By Friends Elder and Mrs. Byron Schaff- j ner of Santa Cruz, Calif., were visitors at the Robert Meilike home in Medford this week. While here they were honored at a supper in the Rogue River academy park given by friends and former students. Elder and Mrs. Schaffner spent five years, from 1934 to 1939, at Columbia academy, a Seventh - day Adventist school near Battle Ground, Wash., where he taught . Bible classes in the academy and she was a member of the grade school fac ulty. They were surprised Wednesday night to find that friends and students with whom they had become ac'quainted during those years, now living in Medford and vicinity, number I 75 with their families. Although several of the families were un able to attend, about 50 persons were present at the park Wednesday night. The Schaffners were interested in trying to match youngsters, they had never seen with parents, and were happy to learn that all those present were attending one of the Val ley's Seventh -day Adventist churches. Elder and Mrs. Schaffner, who plan to retire next year, have spent 40 years in denominational work, including mission, service in Africa. At present they are on the faculty of Sequel Junior aca'demy near Santa Cruz. Guests of Parents Dr. and Mrs. -W. P. Tucker and daughter Elizabeth left Wednesday after visiting here for a few days with Dr.Tucker's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Tucker, 524 . West Eleventh street.
