Friday, August 9, 1957 Cave Junction People Attempt to Stop State From Questioning Tourists in IV Cave Junction A one-man battle carried on by Frank Strickland of Cave Junction against the Travel Information division of the state highway de partment this week resulted in a first-round technical knock out by Strickland. Strickland, long a booster for more and more Oregon tourists, saw red when he discovered "boys in T-shirts and dungarees" stopping cars south of Cave Junc tion for what he termed "per sonal information that infuri ates the traveler." To Obtain Information The division of highways em ployees, mostly college boys, are sent here each year to obtain in- 500 stocks also missed setting an all-time high. That index made its record on Aug. 2, 1956 instead of April 6, 1956. On the Aug. 2 date the DJ indus trials came within one-tenth of one point of making a new top. Not a few experts are hoping that the market will make anoth er try at a new top this month, but no one seems to be willing to bet money on it. r jfc r r -L-L. "Do Not Answer Per sonal Questions," and parked his car at the spot where the boys were flagging down out-of-state autos. This caused considerable con sternation among the highway workers who, seeing their erst while customers take the hint and drive on, suggested that Strickland please go away somewhere. After about 30 minutes of wrangling over the legal aspects of the situation, the boys tore up Strickland's sign. Undaunted, Strickland drove to Cave Junction for more print ing material, but there was per suaded by a local business man to consult Deputy Sheriff Lcs Tythcott. The idea evidently wasn't original. When Strickland ar rived at the Sheriff's office, one of his adversaries was already there trying to get a line on what to do next.
