(International) Search Widens for Missing Young Model Hollywood OP) The search for a pissing 19-year-old model who posed ' for pin-up pictures and was feared a possible "love captive" widened Saturday with detectives reporting only one possible new lead in the case. Officers said a motorist had reporte l he gave a ride Friday night to a girl who closely re sembled pictures of missing Mrs. Judy Ann Van Horn Dull, moth er of a year-old daughter. The unidentified man said he gave the girl a ride because she mo tioned to him for aid when two men in a sports car pulled up to a corner where she stood and tried to engage her in conversa tion. The motorist said the girl told him she was a model. He said he dropped her at a fash ionable Hollywood night club. The girl vanished Thursday when she left her apartment with a man who said he was a photographer and contracted with her to pose for pin-up pic tures at his studio, detectives said. Investigators developed the "love captive" theory after the photographer's telephone num ber proved to be fictitious. Mrs. Dull shared the apartment with Betty Carver, 18. The missing girl is estranged from her husband, Robert Dull, 24, of nearby La Crescenta, offi cers said. House Revamps Bill on Planting Washington P The House revamped and returned to the Senate Saturday a bill to relax wheat planting restrictions on poultry and dairy farmers and other noncommercial grow . ers. The bill would allow any farmer to plant and harvest up to 30 acres of wheat without a government planting allotment so long as all the wheat is con sumed on his farm. Under present production con trols, farmers who harvest more than 15 acres of wheat without a planting allotment are subject to a heavy penalty tax for each bushel produced. The Army said Friday its first LaCrosse missile, for close sup port of infantry, had come off the production line of the Mar tin Company plant at Orlando, Fla. The Air Force said 't also has accepted the first supersonic ramjet engine to be turned out under production techniques. The eigine, produced by Mar quardt Aircraft company at its Ogden, Utah plant, is for the Bomark interceptor missile. The Bomark is designed to fly about 250 miles to intercept attacking bombers. The La Crosse, which takes the place of artillery, was described as 'an "extremely versatile close and general support missile of high accuracy and mobility. Planes fo Resume Search for Aircraft. Boise, Idaho. (IP) Forty planes were back at their bases late Saturday after another day-long search for two men, and their missing Piper Cub aircraft. Hospital Escapee Caught at Airport San Francisco IP) San Francisco police Thursday night arrested a 19-year-old escapee from an Oregon mental hospital as a stowaway aboard a United Airlines plane when it landed at international airport. . Police booked James C. Todd as a vagrant in the San Mateo county jail and held him for Ore gon authorities. Todd insisted he had bought a ticket and lost it, but police said he was not . listed on the passenger manifest. Three Suspects Are Held in Connection With Police Deaths El Segundo, Calif. W Po lice photagraphs, fingerprints, and ballistics data were sent to El Segundo authorities Saturday from Santa Barbara, Calif., and Los Angeles as three suspects were held in connection with the July 22 double killing of two El Segundo officers. Gerald James Bellis, 22, of San Diego, Calif., was booked Friday in Santa Barbara county jail by the California Highway Patrol. Officer Delbert Wayne said he and Ralph Downing, 19, of National City, Calif., were doing 85 in a stolen car. Wayne said a gun was flipped out of the car which later was recover ed and identified as a .22 auto matic stolen July 31 in Yuba City, Calif. The two were described as former reform school inmates and charged with auto theft and carrying a concealed weapon. Their pictures, prints and results of ballistics tests were fodward ed to El Segundo.. It was be lieved the Los Angeles county sheriff's office would help in evaluating the ballistics test da ta obtained by firing the .22. Authorities said Bellis fit the general description of the killer. Other Suspect The other suspect in the mur der of the officers by a man who earlier the same night raped a 15-year-old girl who was in a car with three other teenagers was identified as Edgar Frank lin Rogers, 24, of Hollywood. He was arrested in Los Angeles for jaywalking and jailed when he refused to sign the ticket. , He told arresting officers that he had killed two police officers and would have killed them if he had had a gun with him at the time of his arrest early Sat urday. El Segundo officers said the pictures would be shown to the teenagets. Oifficers Milton Curtis, , 25, and Richard .Phillips, 29,1 were shot down without warning by a" man whom they had halted for a minor traffic violation. Later investigators learned he had stolen the teenagers' car after raping the girl. APPROVES LOAN San Francisco HPI The federal government has ap proved a one million dollar loan to finance construction of two dormitories at the Arizona State college at Tempe, Ariz., the Housing tind Home Financing Agency announced Saturday. "There are many types of ground covers," said H. R. Kem- merer, who pointed out that ground covers are especially use ful on slopes. "They prevent erosion and don't have the burnt-out appear ance that grass often has in such areas," he explained. "Ground covers also can be used under ktrees and between the walk and the house." "The leaves remain on this plant the year around," he said. "It can be grown either in sun or shade and grows in any type of soil." Other plants suggested by Kemmerer for replacing grass in difficult soil or terrain were: Myrtle can not be grown in sandy or other dry soil but slays green all year. ' Hall's Japanese honeysuckle can be grown in sun or shade and in any soil. Should be used mostly for banks or other large areas. Aberdeen Post Office Safe Poses Problem Aberdeen, Wash. OP) For a time Friday the wanted sign was out for a qualified safe cracker at the Aberdeen Post Office. Postmaster George D. Magee couldn't open his safe. Neither could the assistant postmaster or postal clerks. The safe held paychecks of the local postal staff, stamps, the master key for stamp meters and other paraphernalia. Magee sent out a call to the General Services commission in Seattle for a safe expert. A jack-hammer was brought in to action and chewed its way through 12 inches of steel mesh and concrete in the top of the safe, allowing the safe expert to crawl inside and open the safe. - .
