Milwaukee, Wis. W Former
Gov. Walter J. Kohler, an "Eis

he beat in two gubernatorial
elections, will fight it out in the
Aug. 27 general election to suc

It will be a familiar scene
when the two winners of Tues
day's Wisconsin primary elec

Kohler was governor for three
terms (1950-1956) and Proxmire
thrice tried unsuccessfully for
that office. Kohler won both
times they opposed each other.
Only about 500,000 of the
state's 2,300,000 eligible voters
cast ballots despite generally
fair weather.
Proxmire predicted: "For the
first time in 20 years Wisconsin

To Accused 'Usher'
New York (IP) Billy Gra
ham gave a demonstration Tues
day night on how to carry out
the Biblical admonition to turn
the other cheek.
The object of his demonstra
tion was Louis Silver, 49, a
former liquor salesman accused
of posing as an usher at Gra
ham's Yankee Stadium rally on
July 20 and taking up a $491
collection for himself.
The evangelist offered Silver
a temporary job at Madison
Square Garden as an usher.
"I have confidence in Mr.
Silver and want to give him a
chance to show his good faith"
Graham told the United Press.
"He needs the money and we
want to give him a chance to
work out the sum we are able
to give him."
He said he had Instructed n
aide to give Silver enough mon
ey to help meet his wife's doc
tor's expenses and other debts.
Silver, who came here re
cently from Los Angeles, plead
ed not guilty July 25 to grand
larceny charges. He said that he
had been handed the $491 by
someone and told to deliver it
to Graham. The detective who
arrested him said Silver had
tried to bribe him.
Graham ended the 11th week
of his New York crusade Tues
day night.
AEC Guards Will

Las Vegas, Nev. (TP) The
Atomic Energy Commission
warned today that any attempt
to enter the Nevada proving
grounds by members of the Na
tional Committee for Non-Violent
Action against Nuclear Wea
pons would be repulsed by arm
ed guards.
The warning followed the
group's announcement in New
York that some of its members
would deliberately violate the
law by walking into the re
stricted nuclear testing area
next week. The committee said
it planned the action to back
up its protests against nuclear
testing.
Meanwhile, the AEC announc
ed the second consecutive 24
hour postponement of its 11th
blast of the test series because
of adverse wind conditions. The
test, dubbed "Shasta," has been
rescheduled for 3:45 a.m. (PST)
Thursday. Scientists said pre
dicted winds would have spread
the fallout over Lincoln Mine,
a community of several hundred
persons 40 miles east of the
test area.

Inquest Into Death
Of Homedale Clerk
Awaiting Autopsy
Ontario W A decision
on where, when or whether to
hold an inquest into the death
of Homedale City Clerk Bertha
Ehrhart was deferred here to
day pending receipt of a formal
autopsy report from Dr. Joseph
Beeman, Boise pathologist.
The body qf the 39-year-old
woman was recovered Monday
from the Oregon side of the
Snake river near Adrain.
Owyhee County Prosecutor
Sylvan Jeppesen said he had
checked Idaho law and, since it
was undetermined on which
side of the river Mrs. Ehrhart's
body went into the water, he
had no statutory power to have
the remains sent to Idaho.
He added, however, tha in
vestigation of Mrs. Ehrhart's
strange disappearance and
death would continue in Owyhee
couny regardless of whether the
body could be obtained for any
inquest. The woman's hands
were tied behind the back but
invesigators said the cord was
secured with slip knots which
Mrs. Ehrhart could have tied
herself.
Malheur County Coroner
George Beechler said there
were no other apparent indica
tions of any foul play from a
study of the body.
Audit Of Records
An audit still was under way
on the Homedale city clerk's
records, but Jeppesen said he
was doubtful that the records
were complete enough to make
an accurate balance of accounts.
A few days after Mrs. Ehr
hart's disappearance, Jeppesen
announced that city records, in
cluding daily receipts and the
police court docket, were miss
ing. A warrant was issued for
the woman's arrest, charging
her wi'ji destruction of public
records.
