S. Van Valkenburgh of Port land. The Clara Barton nurses schol arship award for $250 was pre sented during the session to Miss Carol Ernst of St. Paul, Ore., by Mrs. Don Anderson, state depart ment president from the Colonel Sargeant auxiliary, Medford. This is one of the scholarships presented each year by the na tional auxiliary to a worthy stu dent, Miss Ernst being the sec ond to receive this award from Oregon during the history of trie organization. The Gold Hill Livestock club was host July 25 to the annual 4-H lamb fair. The Gold Hill Lions club sup ports the fair by sponsoring two perpetual trophies. One is for the best sheep judge and the other is for champion sheep showman. The judging trophy was won by Terry Gail of Rogue River, who is a member of the Gold Hill Livestock club. The Lions club showmanship trophy was won by Ursula Bates of Medford. She also is a mem ber of the local livestock club. The winners will keep their trophies until next year, when they will return them to the next winners or defend them for an other year. At the last meeting of the Gold Hill Lions club a motion was approved which provides that the winner of the trophies will be presented a small dupli cate trophy to keep. Plans were presented concern ing the irrigation system for the new city park which is project of the local Lions club. Other im provements were discussed.
