CLYDE KELL Gold Hill Many local fam ilial have had out-of-state guests in their homes for the past few weeks. Mrs Hazel Holifield of the OH Stage rd. had as guests recently her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Holifield and children, Juliene, Darlene and Holly George, from Anchorage, Alaska. He is a former resident of Gold Hill. During their visit here a pic nic on the Applegate July 9 was held Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Lamb and three children, Carolyn, Rua- suell, and Susan. Mrs. Hazel Hol-field, all of Gold Hill, and Mi".. Lela Lamb of Central Point. Mr. and Mrs Kenneth Palmer of Case Grande, Ariz., arrived last Thursday for a three-week visit in Gold Hill with friends. While here they will be house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bell. The Palmers are former residents of Mrs. Lula Pool of Tempe, Ariz., arrived July 10 at the home of Mr. and Mrj. Odell Sallee, where she will be guest for two weeks. Other guests at the Sallee home are Mr and Mrs. Gene Malone and sons of Torrance, Calif. Mr. and Mrs Odell Sallee re turned last week from Clare more, Okla., where they were called by the death of his fath er. Bill Sallee. Mrs. Bill Sallee was visiting in this area at the homes of her son, Odell Sallee and her daughter, Mrs. Eva Hulse, when she received word of his death. The Sallees accom panied her to Claremore for the funeral. Recent visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Kofahl on' Highway 89, north, were Mr. and Mrs. J. R Musser of Taft, Calif. Also visiting at the Ko fahls -were Mr. and Mrs. Clar ence crow and children, Gary and Gordan, from Bakersfield, Calif. They are former residents of southern Oregon. Mr. and Mrs A. T. Fink had guests from EMon, Mo., recent ly. They were Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Cooper and daughter. Miss Helen Joyce Cooper. Mrs. Fink and Mrs. Cooper attended school together in Missouri. Mrs. Wesley V. Hoxie of San Carlos, Calif., is spending sev eral weeks vacation in the home of her mother, Mrs. Elta Her bert, on Highway 99, north. She also will visit her brother and sister-in-iaw, Mr. and Mrs. Rus sell Herbert, of Medford. Week end guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lance were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Duer- ig of Athertone, Calif. She is a cousin of Mrs. Lance. Mr. and Mrs. Lance were hosts to a din ner party Saturday night in Medford for their guests Mr. and Mrs Larry Duerig, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hope, of Medford, Robert Lance, Gold Hill, and Miss Maria Abbott. Central Point. Sunday visitors at the La net; home were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hope, and sons, Lance and Brndford, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cook, and Miss Maria Abbott. Mr. and Mrs. Duering left Sun day afternoon for their home in Athertone. Mrs. Nora Wait had as guests Friday, Mrs. Hazel Kounkel and Mrs. Elinor Dewhirst, both of Seattle, Wash. They were en route to Washington from south ern California. Mrs. Kounkel is a neice of Mrs. Waits. Other recent visitors at the home of Mrs. Wait and her sis ter, Mrs. Mary Sutherland, were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Wharton and children, Carl, and Kristi, from Pleasanton, Calif. He is a form er resident of Gold Hill. The Whartons were hous'? guests in the home of his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wharton, of Medford. They also visited in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Smith on Sardine Creek. Guests this week in the horns of Mr. and Mrs. William Ander sen and family are her mother, Mrs. Bessie Burton, and sister, Mrs. Marie Geffers, and family, from San Diego, Calif. Mr. and "Mrs. Halbert Smith of Greenview. Calif., recently visited her father, Kearny Rob inson, who lives in Gold Hill with his brother, Wesley Robin son. Kearny Robinson returned to Greenview with the Smiths for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. George Vender and family left last week for their home in Orick, Calif., aft er visiting her sister and hus band, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Mar tin of the Upper River rd. " Mr. and Mrs. Tom Smith have had as guests the past weei their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Smith and children, Bunny and Tommy, of Covina, Calif. Other visitors at the Smith home were another son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith from Downey, Cal. Tne Jaek Smiths were house guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Jore, Medford. Mr. and Mrs. John W. Thomas and family of Klamath Falls were week end visitors at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Smith. Mrs. Hazel Bressel of McMinn- ville has returned to her home following a visit in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Boye and family of Highway 99, north. Mrs. Bressel is a former resi dent of this area. Mrs. Bressel was a dinner guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Curt Hopkins on the Military rd. during her visit. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wills and children, Chrisanne, Susan and Charles, of Klamath Falls, spent July 7 and 8 visiting his sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Delos Walker and daughters Linda and Dixie Walker. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Boye were hosts to a picnic dinner July 4. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith, Mrs. Louise Brahm, Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Compton and son, David, Mrs. Walt Swazer and daughter, Lynn and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Sether, all of Medford; Mrs. Hazel Bres sel, McMinnville, and Mr. and Mrs. Mace Freeland, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kofahl, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schoenemann, Mrs. Meta Powers, Carl Boye, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Hoffman of Gold Hill, Frank Jarris of The Dalles, Ar nold Boye, the hosts and their children, Patty and Bobby Boye. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lewis spent 10 days of their vacation in Los Angeles, where thy were the guests at the home of their son, Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Lewis and family. Mrs Sterling Richmond and Mrs. Carl Johnson of Roseburg were recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lewis. They are sisters of Mrs. Lewis. Miss Donna Eskew went to Klamath Falls last week end where she visited her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ness. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Yordan of Grants Pass were visitors on July 13 in the home of her sis ter, Mrs. Millie Walker, who has been ill for several weeks. Mrs. Edmond Davis and son, David, left July 10 to join her husband, Airman First Class Ed mond Davis, who is stationed with the Air Force in the Azora Islands. Mr. Davis is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Mer cer of Second ave. Miss Sharon Loomis of Coos Bay is visiting at the home of her aunt, Mr. ' and Mrs. Terry Clement, and family on Galls creek. Mrs. Mary Shaw and her sis ter, Mrs. Elenora Ganong, spent a few days recently in Eureka, Calif., where they attended the wedding of Mrs. Shaw's grand daughter. Miss Katherine Mt Ghaney July 7. Miss Vervia Beman, Miss Jan Newland, and Miss Carolyn White left Monday to attend 4-H camp at Lake of the Woods. Miss Marjorle West has re turned to her home following a visit with relatives in California. Mr. and Mrs Carl Christensen left July 12 for Palo Alto, Calif, to visit their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Christensen. They planned to go to Richmond, Indiana, to make their home wit1", another son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Christensen, who had arrived in Gold Hill July 1 to help with the arrangements of moving and to accompany his parents on this trip. Mrs. Neal Bush and son, Dan ny, of Hillsboro haye . been guests the past week at the home of her sister, Mrs. Paul Thomp son They also visited in the home of another sister, Mrs. H. D. Force, and family, and with her mother, Mrs. Minnie Byerly. A picnic dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Quinn recently in observance of his birthday July 14 and the birthday of their son-in-law, Charles Whitlock, of Medford, who celebrated his July 8. Oth ers present were Mrs. Charles Whitlock, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Whitlock, and Miss Sharon Whit lock, all of Medford, Bill Bar low of Phoenix, and Mr. and Mrs. L. A. MacDuckston of Gold Hill. Mrs. Mary Sutherlin has ra turned to her home on Sardine creek following a ten-day trip to New Westminister, B.C., where she attended the wedding of her nephew, William Suther lin. She was accompanied from Portland by Mrs. Milton Wer-schkul. Miss Manda and Miss Bertha Rieson of Medford were guests last week end in the home of their nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Boye, and children, Patty and Bobby. They also visited with another nephew, Arnold Boye who lives with the Ar thur Boye family. Miss Elizabeth Laws is a guest this week at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Clyde Kell. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arty Laws, Rogue River. Mrs. Dewey Wattles left July 12 for Biloxi, Miss., where she was called because of the illness of her daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Lewis and family spent a recent week end in Lakeview, where they were guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston and family. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lewis, cf Gold Hill, her mother, Mrs. Sal ly Musty, of Central Point, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Slates and daughter. Su Anne, also of Cen tral Point, spent July 4th holi day at Roseburg, where they vis ited Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Rich mond. Mrs. Lewis, Mrs.- Slates and. Mrs. Richmond are sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Melford Hood and daughter, Miss Susan Hood, of Gold Hill and Mike and Elvin Hoed of Medford spent Sunday, July 1 picnicking at Woodriif meadows. Mr. and Mrs. James Adamo and children, Terry, James, Richard and John of Elkton, Ore., spent one day visiting at the home of Mrs. Nora Wait. The Adamos are former resi dents of Sardine creek. Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Smith were her nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Wharton and children, Donna and David, of Medford. Others visiting at the Smith home on Sardine creek last Sunday were her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Don Harmon of Grants Pass. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Clements went to Big Lagoon park near Crescent City the week end of July 13 and 14, where they were guests of his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mar ion Clements. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Van Horn and son have moved into the home they bought on Riverside dr. Neal Smith, who had been living in this home, has moved into the Tidwell property on the Rogue river. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miller of Portland spent last week end visiting in the home of his bro ther and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Eroll Miller on Second ave. Others visiting at the Mil ler home July J2 were her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs John Breeding of Rogue River, and Mrs. Blanche Merri nian of Gold Hill. Mrs. Dale Clements and daughter, Miss Dalene Clements, and Mrs. Sidney Payne left July 12 for Washington and Portland to visit relatives. En route home they planned to stop at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Zimmers and pick up Debbie Clement who has been visiting at the Zimmer's home. t Mrs. Minnie Byerly returned to her home July 15 after being a patient in the Sacred Heart hospital the past two weeks Mrs. John Bruce is staying with her. Mrs. Neal Bush plans to return to Hillsboro July 17. Mrs. Bush and son, Danny, have been vis iting relatives in Gold Hill. II. D.
