Nine Police Officers Jo Start Three-Veek Training Session Nine Medford police officers tomorrow will begin a three week training session, the most complete course of its kind ever offered by the department, ac cording to Charles P. Champlin, chief of police. Attending the classes, to be held four hours each day, Mon day through Friday, will be five new officers, whose hiring was authorized by the city council Friday night, and lour officers ho have joined the department in recent weeks. Classes will be conducted from 1 to 5 p.m., and the trainees will spend the hours from 5 to 9 p.m., observing departmental activi ties on the job. Monday's session will open with Chief Champlin administer ing the oath of office to the new men. Mayor John Snider will make the opening remarks. City Manager Robert A. Chief Champlin said the de partment has long wanted to present a program of this scope for trainees but this is the first time in which there have been enough recruits at the same time to warrant such a session. ! FBI Has No Interest In Missing Teacher Mineral, wash. IP The FBI has no special interest in the case of a missing Mineral Sun day school teacher, Richard Auerbach, agent in charge of the Seattle office, said here Fri day. However, Auerbach said the FBI would "act in liaison" with with Lewis County authorities. Eleanor Bolinger. 31, disap peared July 7 and only her bicycle, berry buckets and a pool of blood so far have been found. Hugh Coleman Named Edsel Dealer Here The Edsel-Ford Motor compa ny's new medium-priced car to be introduced early this fall will be sold and serviced in Med ford through Coleman Edsel Sales, Inc., which has been an nounced as an authorized Edsel dealership by ' R. J. Siewers, Seattle district sales manager for Easel division. Long established in the Ford products automobile business and widely known throughout this area since 1950 when he took over the Ford Dealership in Medford, Hugh Coleman will head the new organization and also continue as head of Crater Lake Motors, Ford dealership. His automobile experience dates back to 1926 when he sold Model "T" Fords and has been connect ed with the Ford organization ever since. Plans will shortly be announc ed by Coleman for plans in con nection with the opening and the personnel to handle the new Edsel outlet. July 14, 1957 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THREE Washington Ifl Sen. Theodore Francis Green, 89, was reported making an "excellent" recovery Saturday at Bethesda (Md.) naval hospital after col lapsing at a diplomatic party Friday night. The hospital said Green, old est man ever to serve in con gress, suffered from a "very mild'' case of heat exhaustion. The Rhode Island Democrat will remain in the hospital for two or three days to have his annual physical checkup. Green, an habitual party-goer, collapsed at a reception at the Pakistan embassy. An aide said Washington's sticky 90 - degree temperatures apparently got the better of the veteran senator. Governor Kngiht Signs Omnibus Park Bill Sacramento iW ' Gov. Goodwin J. Knight said Friday he has signed an omnibus park bill appropriating $7,569,281 for expanded recreational facilities throughout the state. The measure was one of a record 2,168 bills the governor has already signed to date. He has until midnight next Wed nesday to work on some 478 re maining bills. Log Hauling Contract Cancelled by Court A county log hauling contract with James S. Wood and Har old F. Yost, route 1, box 410 K, Medford, has been cancelled, the county court reported last week. The two men were under con tract to pick up logs dropped along county road rights of way. Violation of contract agree ments and violation of state law by hauling on Sunday were given as reasons for the con tract termination. Neuberger (D-Ore.), said Saturday he had notified the chairman of the Senate Fi nance committee that he had no objections to the reappoint ment of George F. Jameson as collector of customs in Port land. Neuberger said he would not oppose such an administration appointment despite Jameson's active support of Neuberger's opponent in the last election.
