(International Soundpkelo) Dissension Among Top Leaders Of Soviet Army in Rumor London W Dissension in the top leadership of the Red army was rumored today in in formed diplomatic quarters. Differences were reported to have emerged between Marshal Ceorgi Zhukov and Marshal Alixander Vassilievski, the "brain" behind Russia's wartime victories against Cermany. Vassilievski, Zhukov's deputy in the Ministry of Defense, was termed a potential rival to Zhu kov in the struggle for power. Ha is also considered an advo cate of a tougher policy towards the West No Confirmation There was no jofficial con firmation of these reports which reached London from behind the Iron Curtain today. The reports suggested that the current differences may lead to the quiet disappearance from the Red army leadership of Vassilie vski in the Jiear future. The reports said Vassilievski failed to support the latest de nunciation of the V. M. Molotov Jaycees Plan Work At Prescott Park The Medford Junior Chamber of Commerce this week an nounced it plans to do improve ment work in Prescott park on Boxy Ann butte, and has also passed a resolution asking gov ernmental agencies to provide better development and mainte nance for the park. A group of 10 or more Jay cees will hold a "work day" at the north slope picnic grounds Sunday, repairing tables and benches, painting the rest rooms, filling in and graveling areas needing it. and doing other re pair and clean-up work. Resolution Passed The Junior Chamber's resolu tion, passed at a recent meeting, pointed out the potentialities of the hill-top park, and to its pres ent underdeveloped and dilapi dated condition, and calls for a plan for its continued develop ment and maintenance. (International) Oregon Students Off To UN Youth Meeting Portland .IP Sixteen Oregon high school students left Port land Thursday on the "United Nations Pilgramage for Youth," in which young people from various countries of the world are participating. The group will travel by bus and will proceed north, stopping at Canadian points and will re turn along a northern route south of the border. The students, chaperoned by Mrs. Morris Hines of Forest Grove. Ore., will attend sessions of councils and commissions at the United Nations. The park is now city property. It was first developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps and later as a civic project by va rious service organizations. The city, since assuming ownership, has never been able to provide sufficient funds to do the neces sary work. Budgtt Monty The county court, which this year for the first time has S3, 000 in its budgt for park purposes, had indicated an Uiterst in ac quiring the park and maintain ing it as a county recreational area. The Jayces resolution follows: "WHEREAS it appars that Prescott park, a public picnic and recreation facility located in the community, is now in a dilapidated and unusable condi tion and badly in need of repair and continued maintenance if it is to be of benefit to the people of this area; and Great Banefit "WHEREAS it appears if this park were repaired and devel oped to its fullest extent and thereafter maintained in proper and usable condition, great bene fit and enjoyment would there by accrue to the families of this community by reason of its avail ability as an ideal public picnic ground conveniently located in the Medford area; and "WHEREAS the officials of the City of Medford have ex pressed a desire that the said Prescott Park recreation facility be revived and maintained in a condition which will make it satisfactory for the use for which it was intended; and Recreation Asset "WHEREAS the County Court of Jackson County has likewise staled a belief that this park is a valuable recreational asset to this county and has indicated an interest in the development of this area to its fullest extent and potential; now therefore it is herebv "RESOLVED that the Medford Junior Chamber of Commerce, a service organization devoted to the purpose of community serv ice and improvement through carefully planned civic projects, hereby endorses and advocates a program of development and maintenance of Prescott park and urges the adoption (by the governmental agencies of this community) of a plan to prepare this area for use by the people of our community, and further pledges itself to assist in the pro motion and completion of such a project in the public interest." trio by party boss Nikita Khrush chev and Marshal Zhukov. Other leading marshals of the Red army have rallied ostenta tiously behind Khrushchev and Zhukov, including Marshal Ivan Koniev, himself a former rival to Zhukov. The indications were that the majority of the generals so far stand behind Zhukov, who thus is in virtual control of the Red army at present, now the most powerful single factor in keep ing the Khrushchev regime in power. Disturbing Element However, these developments have thrown new light on the Red army which thus far was considered as wholly united. Vassilievski must thus be con sidered as a disturbing element in the Khruschev's precarious struggle for power, experts said today. They believed he might be re moved because Khrushchev would not feel secure while the apparently antagonistic marshal was in a responsible and power ful position, capable of exercis ing influence in the Red army leadership. Youth Charged With Theft of Spare Tire Billy Max Ricks, 18, of 515 Boardman St., Medford, was con fined to county jail Thursday in connection with charges of lar ceny, according to city police. Hicks is charged with the theft April 19 of a spare tire and wheel from a car parked at the Yost Brothers car lot, 1115 Court st., Medford, police said. He is to appear in district court. Destroyed by Flames Donald Calvin Imhausen, 20, route 3, box 180, Medford, and three juveniles were arrested by city police early this morning on charges of illegal possession of alcoholic beverages. Arrested with Imhausen were a 16-year-old Central Point girl, a 17-year-old Medford girl and a 17-year-old Medford boy, police said. The car in which they were traveling on Barnett rd. near Bear creek bridge was stopped by a patrol car at 2:40 ajn. to day on a routine check. According to officers six full bottles of beer and eight empty beer bottles were found in the car. All four youths were re leased to appear in municipal court Monday, July 15, police reported. Ma. Sandy, Ore. M Fire early today destroyed the Farr i Lumber company mill here. The fire broke out about 1 a.m. and all available firemen jwere called out to battle the roaring flames. Firemen remain led at the blaze until after day j break. Flames were so intense at the mill that firemen devoted much of their efforts to saving other property. There was no immediate dam age estimated. Medford Man Fined In Municipal Court . Ira Hershel Imhausen, route 3, j box 180, Medford, was fined $55 in municipal court this morning after pleading guilty to charges of failure to stop at the scene of an accident. A car operated by Imhausen was involved in an accident June 23 with a vehicle operated by Robert Leonard Jones, Central Point, on South Riverside ave., between Stewart ave. and Bar nett rd., according to city po lice. At the beginning of today's trial Imhausen pleaded innocent, but changed his plea halfway through the trial. He was repre sented by Allan Holmes, Med ford attorney. New Trouble Seen for Foreign Aid Program Washington ilfl Senate Democratic leader Lyndon o Johnson of Texas has predicted President Eisenhower's foreign aid program will run into new trouble from economy minded congressmen.
