is a conversation piece recipe i

2 cups soft bread crumbs
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups shredded natural, sharp
aged cheddar cheese
1 cup dry white wine
i teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
Cayenne pepper or Tabasco
sauce
2 eggs, slightly beaten
Crisp toast
Soak bread crumbs in milk.
Melt butter over hot water in
double boiler or chafing dish.
Add cheese. When cheese is
! melted, add soaked bread crumbs
and wine (milk may be used in
place of wine), seasonings. Care
I fully stir in the slightly beaten
eggs. Allow to cook several min
utes, stirring constantly. Serve
on crisp hot toast on hot plates.
A tossed green or molded grape
fruit salad and your favorite
beverage will complete the meal.
Cheddar Log or Ball. Lovely to
look at. . . delightful to eat will
be your reaction to this cheese
concotion. Shred one pound
sharp-aged natural cheddar
cheese. Rub bowl with garlic.
Mix cheddar with one eight
ounce package cream cheese and
one-third cup sherry wine. Add
one-third cup chopped ripe
olives, one teaspoon Worcester
shire sauce, dashes' of cayenne or
tabasco sauce. Shape into log or
ball. Chill several hours. Short
ly before serving roll in one
fourth cup chopped parsley.

'z cup chopped nuts
Sift together flour, baking
powder, soda, cinamon. nutmeg
and salt. Add brown sugar, short
ening, egg and coffee. Mix to
blend ingredients. Then beat 300
strokes by hand or 2 minutes at
medium speed On electric mix
er. Add dates and nuts and mix
thoroughly. Drop by spoonsful on
greased baking sheets. Bake in
moderately hot oven, 400 de
grees,, 10 minutes. Makes about
five dozen tvo-inch cookies.

1 cup canned cling peach halves
1 cup mashed banana
1 teaspoon plain gelatin I
1 cup cup cream !
2 eggs
13 cup sugar
Salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Drain peaches, mash and press
through sieve. Combine with
banana. Soften gelatine in one
fourth cup cream. Scald remain
ing cream and dissolve gelatine
in it. Reat ppps with sucar. salt
and vanilla and blend ito cream
mixture. Stir in fruit. Pour into i
refrigerator trav and nlace in I
freezing compartment with con
trol set at lowest temperature.

miles from Mobile in an undeter

as the quake in Berkeley was re
corded. Later, the UC seismograph re
corded a slight temblor in the
South San Francisco and San
Bruno areas at 9:38 p.m. De
Noyer said it has a 2.50 magni
tude. He said it was an after
shock of the March 22 earth
quake that damaged parts of San
Francisco and neighboring Daly
City.

first. Princess Caroline, was
born last January.
Rumors had circulated for
some time the Philadelphia mo
vie actress was expecting. There
was no formal announcement
today but a spokesman admitted
the rumors were true.

child may be born near the end
of November or early in De
cember. The news immediately stirred
up the inhabitants of the tiny
principality who are hoping for
a boy as heir to the throne.
