Dickson beat Public School Classes Begin Baseball instruction program for boys in Medfora school dis trict will get underway on Mon day, June 24. It will continue Monday through Thursday each week through Aug. 8. Hours are 8:30 a.m. until noon. The baseball classes will be conducted at the senior high school athletic field. Boys nine years of age and up through high school age may enter the school. There will be a nominal registration fee which will be used to defray partial cost of supplies. Boys may enroll any morning during the baseball program. Experienced Instructors Instructors this year will be Alex McDonald, Cliff McLean, Frank Roelandt and John Ko venz. Lee Ragsdale is supervi sor. All five men are experien ced teachers and players. The classes are devised to provide recreation and to teach correct fundamentals of baseball. Each boy is expected to furn ish his own glove but no boy should stay away because he has none. Extra mitts usually are available. Baseball shoes are optional. The school district will provide bats and balls and other special equipment. Each boy will have the chance to play on a team. Players will be picked for games with other teams in this area in Pee Wee, Intermediate and Cub leagues. Two Divisions Pee Wee players are those who had not reached their 13th birthday by June 15. Southern division of the Southern Oregon Junior Baseball league in the classification will include Ash land. Eagle Point, Central Point, Medford Tigers and Medford Wildcats. A Grants Pass loop will be the other division. And a play-off is planned for Aug. 6. Southern division games will be on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons with the first on June 25 matching Ashland at Med ford Tigers and Medford Wild cats at Central Point. Intermediate class will in clude boys not 14 by June 15 of this year. Teams are Central Point, Ashland, Medford and Lone Pine. Games are on Wed nesdays. On June 26 Lone Pine will be at Ashland and Medford at Central Point. Cubs are boys who were not 16 bv June 15. Game dates are Mondays with first action on July 1.
