Special Session
To Sludy Hungary
Brutality Urged
United Notions, N.Y. IP)
Some Western nations urged to
dny th;it the General Assembly
be recalled to discuss new de
tails of Soviet brutality in Hun
gary, but a special session ap
peared unlikely at this time.
Australia is formally on rec
ord as favoring immediate As
sembly debate on the special
committee report on Russian
atrocities in the subjugated sat
ellite nation. Britain nd several
other countries were reported
thinking along the same lines.
Nominally ia Maces
The United State, however, is
said to feel that a special session
should be deferred until just be
fore the next regular meeting of
the Assembly opens Sept. 17, in
order to assure discussion "on
the highest level."
The Assembly is nominally in
recess at the moment, and the
foreign minister who custom
arily sit in at the start of a ses
sion have scattered. It appeared
likely that a special session at
this time would be attended
mainly by second-stringrs.
Decision 6 Wednesday
No decision is expected one
; way or the other until Wednes
day, when representatives of the
24 nations which sponsored the
special Hungary committee meet
here at the invitation of the
United States.
The committee report, publish
ed Thursday, cited such acts of
Soviet savagery as the wanton
shelling of undefended buildings
and the barbarous shooting of
women and children in breadlines.

Teen-Age Gangs
Active in Portland j
Portland OP A 15-year- j

with a broken jaw after he was
beaten by a group of teen-age
youths and police said young j
gangs again had become a ma
jor problem here.
Gary R. Lohkamp told police
he and a companion, Jerry Es
pinosa, 15, were attacked by five
youths Thursday night while
they were walking home.
Espinosa said he managed to
flee but that Lohkamp slipped
and fell and was beaten and
kicked while on the ground. The
youth also suffered multiple con
tusions. Lohkamp said it was too dark 1
to get a description of his assail
ants. Meanwhile, two youths, both
17, were remanded to Municipal
Court on charges of attempted
robbery by fear in connection
with an attempted assault and
robbery of a motorist last Sat
urday. And police said they had
learned of other youth gangs in
the 10 to 14 year old age group
after taking two boys, 10 and 11
into custody for acts of vandalism.
